I was using Gladiators in the rear and Edge in the front. It seemed to work OK at the LHS track, but I've since blown the rear rims and the tires (don't ask) and am going to try some Team Losi step pins in the rear, but the track has been too muddy to try them out. These feel like they are made of a softer compound so they should work ok.

All of these are 2.2" rims BTW. You'll be fine if you are using the stock arms, but if you use the RPM arms, you'll have to shim the fronts out about 1/8" and use grub screws to hold the axle carrier pins in place. The stock button head screws will rub on the inside of the rim.

I was using these 2.8" Imex rims and these 2.8" on-road tires for a while. The rims are still holding up fine, but not happy with the foam in the tires. The foam seems to have "gone away" and the tires feel empty. BTW: It looks like Imex finally updated their site so it actually looks somewhat professional.
