older .15 rusty - 01.28.2007, 05:54 PM

hey guys one of my freinds bought this rusty from a coworker for 100 bucks and it sat in his garage for a couple months (with fuel in it) he came to my house to see if i can get it running and after a little tinkering i got it runnning! it runs pretty decently but im sure it needs some tuning. i bought it for 80 bucks and am now wondering what i should do with it lol. ill prolly sell it to one of my freinds (2 of them are really interested in it)

i do have a couple of questions about it though.

1. the only way i can start it up is by putting the throttle controll all the way up. when it starts it just idles really high untill i turn back the throttle controll. after that it runs good unless i let it idle. do i need to turn my idle up? if so where is that locateD?

2. since it sat out for a long while should i put a bunch of after run oil in it to try and help it or what?

3. how fast should the .15 rustys go? it goes about as fast as my revo (i might have not hit top speed because my street isnt that long)

4. do you think it would be a good idea to buy a 3.3 motor for it? or maybe an os18 or something? would there be a massive difference?

5. if it sat with a bunch of fuel in the gas tank what should i do about that? ive already cleaned it as good as i can (rinsed it with water and let it sit out for a day) would you reccomend me do anything else?

sorry about the long questions but once theyve been aswered i wont as them again! lol

thanks!

First off, NEVER rinse the tank out with water...I always rinsed mine with old nitro fuel...

Yea. That would work as well since it will simply evaporate...

LOL, filter oil? I would think the motor would be kinda hard to start next time around, was it? That stuff is sticky so dust/dirt sticks to it instead of entering the carb. After run oil or WD-40 helps to keep moisture out of the engine to prevent rusting.

I guess it was better than leaving it there dry. Little something is better than nothing.

Even if it didn't. It is still alcohol. That is all the fuel really is. Alcohol with 20%
nitro and some oil added.
