Lexan is Polycarbonte. Lexan is a trademark name, polycarbonate is the plastic name.

The acrylic stuff breaks very easily. Just don't even try. I've found a place around here that sells real lexan sheets for dirt cheap. I've been using them for building everything. I've bought a couple sheets for $10-$20 depending on the size and at Home depot you can get around a 30x30" sheet for $70, so I'm getting a great deal.
