1/8th Scale Buggy Class Ann Arbor, MI - 02.18.2007, 09:39 PM

At Washtenaw Raceway in Ann Arbor, Mi we had a total of 7 1/8th scale buggies to make our own class with an average of over 200 entries per raceday total.
Here is a pic of the cars.

2- Mugen MBX4
1-Mugen MBX5
2-Hyper 7
1- GS Storm
1- Kyosho 777
There is another Mugen MBX5 that shows up also sometimes.

All cars are made from scratch with the help of each other. The Hyper 7 vehicles have some custom made parts by Dan who runs the track for us in the winter and the home of the TC3"O".

The race is very fun. No videos to show. Once you put the transmitter of one of these in someones hand ........ they are hooked.

Extreme CONTROLLED speed.

That si so awesome that so many people run brushless at your track. What do you think is the most popular system out of everyone? I was wondering because I am in the process of a 1/8 buggy conversion too.

All buggies can be converted. Dan at http://www.rcproductdesigns.com/ is custom machining parts to work with Ofna's. I think he will be looking at making kits for conversions. You would need a roller first and the OFNA roller is a good cost choice.

No LIPO problems. Just RESPECT the lipos. The nimh packs do get beat on hard with these setups.

I sure wish the "mysterious exploding lipo" theory would die. Everyone is terrified of running them, even the backwoods nitro guys know about it. I have had countless nicd/nimh leak acid, and have had 2 packs explode violently (cells were scattered in a 30 foot radius with acid everywhere). But no lipo failures. Common sense goes a loooong way.

Personally, a lot of my 1/8th conversion problems stemmed from the use of Nimh cells. If only I had to money to purchase some Lipos.
