correct. no problems what so ever. if your a speed freak you could also look at the xl3600. im not sure but i might run a little hot on 14 cells although it can handle it no problem from what i have been told.

You would have to be absolutely insane to run the 3600XL on 14cells. That would have absolutely horrific amounts of power. The 3600XL would definately run very hot on 14cells, and it would be getting upto its RPM limits aswell.....

The 3100XL will have less torque than the 2800XL, but because of the higher speed of the 3100XL, it can be geared to give more torque. But believe me, with the 3100XL on 14 cells you will have absolutely no problem wotsoever with flipping the maxx on its back in second gear (ie. a gentle finger will be needed!!)

Most of the info and advice in this post is pretty accurate. the xl3100 WILL run hot on 14 cells. Also, when you increase the cell count, you must gear the motor down some(smaller pinion), not the other way around as squeeforever mentioned. The 7020 will handle the xl2800 on 12 cells, and even 14 cells, but it will be pushing it. The 9920 is the better option. For 12 and 14 cell operation, I would choose the xl2800. For 14 cells, I would probably take the xl2400. All the basic xl motors are capable of the same power output, so any of these motors could be geared to achieve similar performance. The goal is to get the motor near its ideal rpm/efficiency range based on your cell count. Most brushless motors are most efficient somewhere between 30k and 40k rpms. I usually shoot for low-mid 40k rpm range myself. The 3100 is a great 12 cell motor, and can live comfortably on 14 cells, but it will be warm.

So what would be then the best motor and esc on 12 and 14 cells running close to there ideal rpm/efficiency with the stock tires and tranny with cvds all around and in the center what I am looking for is mid 40's and 15 to 20 min of runtime does that help and I would like to not re gear the transmission and what would be the right pinion for the motor in my senerrio

mike, i said 13 or 14 because my truck has 14/66 and really needs to be geared up some. it runs pretty cool and has TONS of torque. what do you think? i was gonna get a 15 and 16 tooth pinion.

I think if you got the money buy each pinion and try it out and see which one seems best for your needs
