Nitro and rockcrawling don't mix. They don't have the instant torque that electric does, they have clutches that will probably burn up super fast when trying to climb a wall, it would be pretty hard to get the gear ratios low enough to have it even perform good. I would say make the revo brushless and do what steve slayden did with his revo. Yes his revo is nitro but a brushless one would so beat a nitro one. Nitro engines also load up at idle.

Go to traxxas.com and look for the revo project and it will be on the first page

The Revo with 120mm rockers would be a nice crawler, actually. I would side with electric for crawling , though(not brushless, but a nice torquey brushed motor like the mag mayhem with low gearing). The Revo is just a better truck than the xtm IMO.

i would have to dis agree with braaap. nitro crawlers are possible but perhaps not practical at the moment. my tmaxx 2.5 does quite well. all nitro needs is gear reduction, but no one has the brains or the guts to produce it. there should really be a nitro crawling class in comps to push the limits of the hobby.

I can't understand what you would want with a nitro crawler. Nitro is just not suited to the task. Perhaps with a gear reduction as Crawler Max said, but at the moment there is nothing like that. Nitro needs to wind out to have the torque needed for crawling. And many times you will need instant power in forward or reverse to get out of a bind. Nitro just does not have it.

electric is better but nitro is louder. i have t maxx 2.5 with locked diffs, alloy clotch, cvd, and 16t bell. it works great... for nitro, but its alot of fun. who will be the first to offer gears?
