Did i burn out my quark - 03.19.2007, 01:10 PM

I have a quark 125 b and im running 11.1 lipo on a c4 and i wanted to know if i burned out my controller... Yesterday I was running it and I stopped for a second and a puff of steam came out of the controller.. I let it sit for a while and it still works but its not giving me nearly the speed i was getting before.. Did i burn up the controller or the motor... hopefully the motor.... Will the controller still work if its burned out

Hard to say; you are sure the smoke came from the controller?

If you say it's steam, it could be a capacitor blowing out. I've had that happen to me before (reverse polarity) shot out steam like a kettle at full boil. Kinda stinky too, but not bad. I could see it still working without a cap, but like you said reduced speed/power.

The ESC doesnt smell burned anymore should i write to quark or call them and see what they say and if they can and will repair it for me? And If I do indeed have to buy another controller which should i go with because i dont think my quark should have given me such an adverse reaction based on my voltage placed in the vehicle... Please Advise

Just e-mail or call Quark. From what I have heard, you will probably get a new one for free, but thats just probably. Not 100% sure.

I burned my quark 125b 7 months out of warranty and they replaced it for free, no questions asked. I even asked them what was wrong with it, they said that they were just going to send me a new one and did not even look at the old one! So they should replace yours too. Just give them a call...

There time is probably to valueable to them to look at it and try and repair it. Its really not worth it to a company to look at it to try and find the problem since 90% of people who return them for service just end up getting a new one anyway cause it would cost almost as much as a new one. Make sense?

Then it sounds like they wouldn't even know if you modded it so the internals are thermal epoxied to the case...
