Some spped runs with the Rusty, 60+ - 04.02.2007, 02:35 PM

I did some speed runs with my XL-5 Rusty..

Mamba 5700 on 12 cells with 14/83, timing on lowest and the throttle curve has been dropped down between 5 and 6 a bit.

All speeds were taken with a Garmin GPS. Also all speed runs were taken with the Stampede Talon 2.8 tires. Man, those things get very skinny at high speeds. I have some anacondas, I am going to try them some day.

My first attempt was 59.3. I took a pic of the GPS but for some reason the pic was not in my camera when I went to download the pics from the camera to my computer.:(

My second attempt was 63.6. I started to get some nuts with the throttle this time...

The third attempt was 65.6. I really started to give it all it had this time...

The fourth attempt was 66 even. It was the same throttle (wide open) but I held it for bit longer this time...

Here are some pics of the truck...

I don't see where the 12 cells are?

If you look closley in the second pic, you can see the GPS sitiing on top of the second battery (look how high the second battery is sitting). If look on the left hand side of the second battery just undernieth it, you can see the corner of the first battery. The batteries are stacked on each other, as opposed to sitting next to each other.

Wow, very impresive. You have to get a picture of the tires ballooning... that would be insane, they would just pop right off the rim.

Nice rims on your truck (the one in the background). Those look like the 18" Toyota X Runner rims but not an X Runner truck? What truck is that?
Oh yeah, nice Rusty too. Love the speed runs!

None yet. I really do not want to. I am pretty sure the thing would explode.

Holy crap! A 5VZ-FE with a turbo! Very nice. I think that is the first 6cyl I have seen with a turbo. Most (as I'm sure you know) are supercharged. Very clean install.

Have you had it down the track yet?

I just got rid of my 1990 22RE that was supercharged. Nothing stock on that thing from top to bottom. Mine was a sleeper just like yours. Made lots of money at the street races. Never ran the new motor at the track, (old motor did 13.50's) but guessed it to run mid to high 12's.

Well thanks for the trip down memory lane. And if you can, get me a video of your Tacoma making a pass, I would love to hear how that beast sounds with the turbo.

No track time. I wish though. I actually just got done removing all of it. I sold all of it. I have beat some vets (non Z06). But non the less they were pissed. I figure with awsome traction it would run in the mid 12's.

Nice!

There is nothing like kicking some V8 butt with a 4cl or V6 :005: Now I'm guessing those all come N/A or did they actually make a Supercharged etc version?
