General Motors is making a big push right now for another electric car (like the Chevy Volt). But it seems that they are trying to make them more like a hybrid than just pure electric.
GM also announced late last year that Saturn will be making a "plug in" VUE which is their SUV and it will cary Lithium-ion batteries.
Here is the next Saturn VUE that it will be based on with an estimated 40mpg on the highway.

I think GM must refer to Mike and Lehner for a powerful brushless setup for the real drivable electric cars. Then, we could all enjoy driving them at super high speeds with wheelies at will...:)

If I could get the performance of the Tesla, a 200-250 mile range between charges and get it all for about $30k, I might consider it. But we all know that aint gonna happen any time soon.

you could always buy a stereo to have the engine noise! It's not likely that any of us will be driving any of those cars in the near future unless one of us happens to hit the lottery for a couple hundred million!
I think the Atom with a supercharged Honda Civic engine, putting out 300hp can do 0-100mph-0 in either 10.2 or 10.9 seconds, I forget excactly.
The Atom weighs about 500kg, I think the electric Wright would weigh a bit more.
Who has seen "Who Killed The Electric Car", I thought it was pretty good, frustrating knowing some of the things that happen though.
From seeing that and other things I've heard and read, I think pure electric will be better in the end compared to hybrids and hydrogen cars.
Ah, mass production well I dont have much hope for the wrightspeed, the atom it is based on isn't even made in large numbers and while driving one is great fun, most folks want the practicality of a roof for when it rains or at least a windscreen.
I think the Tesla will see it, it starts production this year and if popular it could take off, they make a shed load of Lotus Elises, Exiges and Vauxhall VX220s so its very possible.
I think any decent electric car will be about 80k mainly due to the huge lipo pack, I've thout about an electric car and a 2000A 400V speedo is about 2.5k and a 150kw brushless motor from 3-5k, so they could do an RTR format car fit your oun battery and drive for 35k.
I have allready seen the price of Lipo drop and there capabilitys increace enormousely, with new 20C cells we be lighter and cheaper than the prototypes
I agree with Squee, you'l never catch me in a hybrid for the same reason I won't be fiting a nitro engine, dynamo and charger to my new electric buggy, the weight of carying an engine and fuel for extra milage kills mileage you can go without using the engine and the peformance.
The wrightspeed blows away even the supercharged typeR Atom despite being near 700kg, here's a bite from the wrightspeed website:-

The X1 production car will be better… much better.
