Thats the way it is...

I saw an M5 the other day driving along the coast on PCH (Pacific Coast Highway) and then we got to a light and I was drooling over it and noticed that the rims were all dinged up because she curbed it a couple times trying to parallel park (some chick was driving it - she probably had no idea what that thing is capable of).

Have they tested a Radical SR3? that will Thrash the vette and beemer on everthing except top speed, it took 4 seconds off top gears previous fastest lap (pagani zonda fangio edition) and over here it costs 40k and the beemer and vette are both 55k+

I gotta congratulate the Z06 tho Tiff tested it and loved it he said it was the best handling american car he's driven and was shocked that it compared with the europeans in terms of chuckability and roll controll for such a big car and its progressive grip. which made it a pleasure to slide round the corners. The way it drove round the track was reminiscent of a Lotus Elise which I think speaks volumes.

My dream car at the moment is an Exige S, but I expect it will be the Tesla when that enters production.

The Lingenfelter vette is a shining example of what the corvette is capable of as it approaches supercar price. I'm not a vette fan by any means, but I have incredible respect for the tuning work done by Lingenfelter.

And BP_Revo, that M5 is an incredible piece of engineering!

I'm not a huge Vette fan, but I like them and agree that the bang for the buck is huge. We all know that performance isn't the only thing people buy their cars for. Speaking of performance though, did any of you see the numbers on the Ferrari 599 in this month's Road & Track? That thing is sick! I know the price is too, but it's faster to 60 than an Enzo, 11.2 1/4 mile, and better skidpad than the Z06. Awesome.

Very nice car. So is that Callaway C16. Runs neck and neck with the Ferrari.

I don't have my R&T in front of me, but I remember the C16 actaully being slower to 60 than the Z06, and it didn't have the skidpad grip or slalom time either. I guess the supercharger makes it faster once you get going. I see the C16 has a 7.5 0-100 vs the Z06 @ 8.5. That's sweet. Both of them get to 100 before most cars hit 60. Sweet. :027:

The LPE Corvette was downright violent to drive. The car makes so much power that it smokes its Michelin Pilot Sport 2 tires at the top of third gear. GPS data showed that the tire smoking continued past 125 mph!
They said it made "well over a thousand hp when boost is turned up..."

The same article has an equally BAD Viper that did 220mph and was still pulling when they lifted....

And there is a 900hp GTO.... that's the kind of car that could be compared to an M5... although this one was the coupe.

Damn...

Yea....the Viper was probably a HPE one. Makes over 1000hp to the wheels and does 255mph. 0-150 in less than 10 seconds.

Traction problems for the Calloway. The true potential for a car can be found in its trap speed at the end of the quarter mile. The C16 was at 129mph at the end of the 1/4 and the best I have seen I believe for a Z06 was around 125mph at the end of the 1/4 but averages about 121.

All these 1000hp are just sick on street tires. The article said about he Viper... that they could not go full throttle without spinning the tires until late in 3rd gear. And the Corvette must have been the same since they said it smoked em in 3rd at 125mph.

So the 1/4 times are purely based on the surface grip. They would have to run sticky slicks to really see what these cars can do. 10's for sure....

Some have made it into the 8's....

No doubt that C16 would be in the 10's with slicks.

OK,

Time for a Ford guy to chime in.............(not that I don't like Vettes or M5's mind you.)

But my friend Dave helped Tony & the crew build this Ford GT.

Check it out...........1453 REAR WHEEL HORSEPOWER. YES, 1,453 REAR WHEEL HORSEPOWER.
