That is curious because we had similar issues trying to run an outrunner off that same esc. We actually fried the outrunner. It was working fine on another esc and then on that one smoke.

e-mike, I found your MMM has motor wires soldered directly to the board, does it come that way or you mod it?
Mine has battery wires soldered and femail bullets for motor.

what pwm-setting did you try? i experienced that w. a higher pwm coggin disappears, just like timing. first put the pwm higher, then try different timings, I use eg. 7deg. for a two pole, as long temp. is ok. The cables/wires aren't too long?
what I've read about the small ezruns it seems that at least these esc's are quite ok.
I dunno if that helps, just a try.

I like the three big 1000er caps, that looks solid. size DOES matter...

did you take off the green ring of the esc that come around the receiver plug of the esc??
donīt do it...
this ring is like a magnet to prevent magnetic interferences on the car...
brushless motors produces alot of magnetic field and mine 150a hobbywing was doing that until i put that green ring with the wire around it again..

regards

you are what you race!!
