You're right, What's_nitro.
ALWAYS Turn the Switch OFF before pulling your Deans apart, ALWAYS Turn ON the Switch ONLY AFTER the battery is connected. This will greatly reduce the spark.
I found the capacity will remain in the capacitor for several days, very impressed what low leakage current the MMM has.
