Would getting the new maxx spec'd diffs be a good improvement over stock?

already have idlers on the list.

The 3905 diffs are an improvment over the 3906 diffs. They are a sealed diff with an additional spider gear support, but the cup and case are still plastic.

I ran the stock 3905 diffs with 6s and my 1515 2.5d with no issues. The old 3906 diffs I blew out with the titans, so there is a world of difference. I think the extra support and shimming made the difference, as once I shimmed the 3906 diffs properly they were virtually problem free.

My opinion with the 3906 is keep it cheap and only upgrade to 3905 parts, anything else is a money pit and futile at best.

Ask Mike (mkrusedc) and he can tell you, lol!

sounds like a plan then, upgraded diffs and some steel idler.

whats required to install lst/muggy diffs into the maxx trucks.. i would assume some 8mm out drives/adapters.

idk how they would hook up with the MIP cvd's

Probably check with linc on that when, since he puts LST diffs in everything.....

I even think he put some LST diffs in his 1:1 recently......

Hows mileage been since the conversion linc? I have an old Emaxx I wont get rid of because I keep telling myself I am going too get running of but I probably wont. I just cant get rid of it, its what got me started into the Big toys.

Your not going to have issues with the maxx diffs if they are shimmed properly... Yes lst diffs would be beneficial to a very powerful 6s setup but in my opinion upgraded diffs are pointless unless you plan to run 6s with a good setup.

I wish that was true in 100% of cases, but after seeing numerous failed emaxx 3906 and 3905 diffs in brushed, novak and powerful BL setups, its just not true. Prevention is better than cure- why spend $$ each time fixing or beefing up stock diffs that will always have weak spider gears, when some modded LST diffs will cost about the same as a pair of new 3905 diffs?

UE or FLM hybrids is something else though, 'price not an issue' kinda upgrade....

^^ I'm with neil on that one. I've shimmed plenty of stock diffs and still blown them. LST diffs are the best cheap solution. I hear Linc even put one in his wife

I really think that if you plan to put lst diffs in anything, might as well be a lst... Makes the emaxx look like a toy.

Lst diffs are about the cheapest method to get decent diffs. You will need some sort of adapter or cup for the 8mm pinion, like Mikes adapter for revo center drives to 8mm. Or if you use center cvds, there are a variety of dogbone cups with 8mm holes in them. I used cut down revo stub shafts as diff outputs to attach 3.3 sliders to.

I have beat the crap out of 3905 diffs in both the maxx and revo and have yet to have a failure. This is on 6s neu 1515 2.5d. I think most of the failures were retards on the TRX forums doing back flips constantly and landing big air full throttle. Of course ramming things full throttle and the sudden impacts do not help either.

I agree with linc that the effort in fitting the LST diffs to the maxx are not worth it.

Actually it is a good upgrade, I just meant that a lst is a better truck than an emaxx. I am still looking into having the correct size/shape front supports made, then I can offer kits to install lst diffs in a maxx truck.

Lst difs are the same price as the 4908/3905 diffs... wayy stronger but they throw my gear ratio's in the garbage.... dont make a pinion large enough to compensate...

any ideas?
