ROAR rules state that the motor must be 53.00mm in length or shorter.

So, it wouldn't be ROAR legal.

Patrick, Any idea when the 1410 and 1412 motors will be offered without the ESC combo? I'm all set on ESCs but would really like to get the motors by themselves.

Another question for Patrick... - 12.19.2010, 12:44 PM

1410 motor has a 1/8" output shaft and I believe you mentioned that this was for ROAR requirements. I didn't take the motor apart to measure it but the bearing looks like it could accomodate a 5MM output shaft. If you offer rebuild kits for the 1410, would there be an option of a 5MM output shaft?

I have no concern about the 1/8" shaft in a car with a slipper, but in a CRT.5/SCRT10 or similar car with direct drive and exposed gears, I would be concerned that a stone in the gear could snap the 1/8" shaft (actually heard 2nd hand reports on RCTech of people snapping these shafts). Then you would have to replace the rotor anyway, so why not do it right away with a 5MM output shaft rotor?

+1 on the 5mm shaft request. I too would prefer 5mm shaft if it was available. Even a 4mm shaft would be preferable to the 1/8".

Side note... I ran the 1410 motor yesterday at the track for the first time in my SCRT and I gotta say its is a seriously great bang for your buck motor. Felt even more powerful than the HV4.5 motor I was running and it ran cool and smooth. Very impressed with the whole SCT 1410/sidewinder combo. The esc handled running the 6.2lb truck with no issues at all. I cant imagine how you actually did it but for $120 (less in many places) this thing absolutely rocks. Really looking forward to the 1412 version of this motor. (But please don't make me buy a MMP to get one...)

Don't see why not. I've used an rspro to drive a Neu 1512 4 pole motor with no issue. The 1410 wont be any different.

Who is this "we" you speak of, LOL! Just joking around, I know who you refer to and the point you make. But there are a lot of bashers out there too, and people involved in unregulated, unlimited racing. I'm sure Castle does their best to develop products so many people can use them, that's how they make money. So while you may say we need something else, a whole other group says that's exactly what we needed.

I did some experimenting today with the 1410 SCT motor in my Losi 810 buggy. This little motor is a freakin beast!! It ran like a raped ape on 3s with a different ESC. Ran a couple full practice packs on it and never saw temps over 140 degrees. Also ran it in some racing later in the day and after a 6 minute qualifier and a couple minutes of warm up laps it came off at 138 degrees. Broke in the main so I didnt get to see how it did there but Im sure it woulda been fine. This thing blew the Novak HV motor I was running completely out of the water. Not even a contest.

Dont know how you did it Castle, but DMAN this is a good motor for the money!! Nice work!!!!!!! Only wish I have, like others have asked, is for a version with a 5mm shaft and this would be a perfect motor.

52.95mm. It has already been accepted by ROAR for SCT racing.
