I would like to see a good hard test of one of those tacon/leopard motors.

I would stick with the MMM if you plan to gear a heavier 1/8 car for high speeds. Amp draw will be high. Nothing against the mmpro, but I know the MMM can handle it. And there is not much of a price difference.

Or if you want to go cheap, try one of the new trackstar escs from HC. I would lovwe to know how that esc will hold up and you can be the guinea pig!!! Oink!!

I did 73mph (and it would have gone 80 if I had a larger area to test in) with a tamiya tt01 (100 bucks for the kit), lola style 200mm nitro body (no wheel cutouts), and a feigao 380c motor on 3s lipo with a MM. I have a feeling the sidewinder sc system on 3s with the right gearing will easily get a 10th tc over 75. So you can score a tc for 50-75 bucks, around 100 for the sc system, 50 for a lipo (turnigy/zippy 3s 40c) and figure around 50-100 for tires, body, etc. So 250-300 there.

I would rather spend the extra and have an 1/8 setup. You can always gear it down and play in a parking lot when you get tired of top speed runs.

how about this linc if u buy my stampede vxl ill get an 1/8th scale with a MMM

if i get an 1/8th scale it will prob be a buggy so it can have more than one purpose...

i think you should go with a 8th scale conversion for super fast......i have a power racing Xr 8 with a a MMM 2650 hobbywing 150 esc Xerun ( i like it because it has a lcd programmer) also running 2 Gen Ace 5000 40c pack a 25 pinon and 42 spur gear. my buddy has hit a 101 mph with a similar setup....my setup is my winter setup i have not a had a chance to test the new setup yet..

The people I've seen do 100mph here did it with buggy's, the MMM and 2650kv combo, 6s and GRP tires. Just an observation.

Both are good choices. I recently had a look at the lx1e and the gtp2e. I really like on road cars so the gtp2e would be my choice. I have owned all 3, and the hyper7 was a nice buggy. If I went with a buggy it would be another hyper8, I really liked that one.

I like the lx1e because its already converted from the factory. Hopefully its durable

MMP will handle 1/8 but not for speed runs! If you want more than 75mph on a 1/8 scale MMP won't handle it. You can try a Xerun 150 amp if low on budget.

what about the hardcore onroad cars like the MRX-4/5 / Serpent 966 etc? I thought these (and I was planning on converting one) would be the way to go for handling / speed.

Still plan on running 6s? I would go with the 2200 if so. I prefer the longer motor as it will have more torque and handle the load better.

Well, the 2200 is a larger motor so it is capable of more total output. So if you can load it to realize that it will be able to run the car faster. Plus with the same load the 2200 should run cooler (ie both geared for the same speed).

Only benifit I can see with the 2650 is you will get a faster turning motor on the same voltage, and you may run out of gearing options. However, with the speed you are planning I do not see that as an issue. Plus the 2200 is more versatile, you can put it in just about anything.

yea thats what i was thinking because if i got an MT i could just drop the motor in there.
