Expert advise for Building Full race E Revo

The 17mm and 23mm is only referring to the hex size. A standard Maxx for instance, is 14mm and tend to strip easily with brushless. If you don't have either 17 or 23mm rims, I prefer 23mm (because of all the rims to choose from), but with all the 17mm rims out, it really doesn't matter anymore...I have a few sets of 23mm and no 17mm, so I just stick with 23.

I used 14 cells and a lehner 1950 and didnt have a problem with stock revo hexes.

Personally, if this is gonna be a race truck, and you want the ultimate in durability, reliability, etc, get the RD setup...

I had all kinds of problems with the stock rims/tires on the Revo, but a set of good maxx-size wheels (extended offset for more width) has held up great. I've never stripped a hex yet and I've run it hard. You really have to make sure the wheels are tight on the shafts; I can see them stripping for sure if they get loose.

Brian, did you ever bend an axle stub? I don't really run my trucks that hard, yet I bent a couple...

Nope. It must be difficult to do that. The only way I can see it happening is to slide sideways into a low wall (curb) or something at speed so that the bottom of the wheel is forced in, but usually this breaks an axle carrier if anything.

It's actually not hard to do. :005: Alot of racers had that problem (I'm guessing from hitting the wall, pipes, and jumps wrong) so thats why they developed the 8mm axle kit.

I will be posting pics on some of the parts that i already have. this will probably be an update for the making of my erevo.This will also serve as a reference for those who wants to build thier own E revo versions especially for racing.

You guys have any news for the up coming revo slipperential and 1/8 diffs?

I was breaking axles carriers for that reason until I got the RPM ones. Everything seems to be holding up fine now. I really hope I don't start breaking axles because the RPM carriers came with new, different size bearings and I would have to replace those again if I got the 8mm axles. BTW: where do you get the new 8mm axles??

What do you guysthink about those aluminum extension wheel adaptors that increases the width into 1 inch on each side fora total of 2 inches in width?

That would do nothing but cause problems. Mainly the bearings and axles...Bent axles and ruined bearings are a certainty...

I agree with squee. If you want a little wider stance, I'd go with a rim with a little offset. It won't give you 2", but it will certainly help stability and put less strain on your axles bearings, and steering servo(s).
