Hey camel, the mt2ss has a slipper clutchand no one-way bearing, unless it has a 2-speed. nice idea, hope it turns out.

Nope, not a 2 speed. I should be able to pick up the truck by this weekend and then I'll start building it. Depending on how much time I have to work on it, I might have it ready for the Southern CA URC/LSARC get together on the 20th with a brushed setup.

I don't think the MGM controllers have the option to disable reverse/brakes. Or at least the one I had didn't (do the newer ones?). So you are stuck using the motor's power to brake. The BK controllers, on the other hand, can be programmed to run forward only (no reverse/brake). They cost more and also cog more.

I don't believe the MGM controller can be programmed for forward only or even disable reverse. The reverse won't engage until brakes are released and the throttle is returned to neutral, though. The BK controllers don't have bad cogging, either!

I found that the BK controllers have worse cogging than the MGM, while the MGM have practically none. This was using an external 6v power source with the BK, and the BEC on the MGM.

The 80A goes for about $165. I think a Feigao 12s would be a good idea, it just seems like it would have planty of torque but it might be hard to fit 12 cells in an MT2. Somebody is doing this on RCZ.

With the factory settings the BK does appear less smooth, but by adjusting the throttle acceleration curve to a similar value as the MGM, there is a noticeable difference. The warrior in stock form comes on too strong to be smooth, but a simple adjustment really smooths out this power delivery.

I run a Feigao 12s in my Rustler. I don't know if it is me you are talking about (tcolesen) over at RCZ. If it isn't me, then I don't know who it is! 12 cells is what I used to run through the 12s, but now I run 3s and 4s Lipo.

So, which one should I get for 6 cell running?

The Feigao 12s is for 10-12 cells or 3s-4s Lipo. For 6cells, the Feigao 8s will run like like a Lehner 4200, but won't spool up as fast (heavier rotor, but more power). The Feigao 6s has been showed to have no real application, but would still be fast. The Lehner 5300 would be a very good motor. But there is another choice - the Feigao 380 (400) size motors. The 6s (380) would be an excellent motor. It is low cost ($50-60), but will spool up very fast since it is light weight. It will have speed comparable to the Lehner 5300 (faster maybe), but a little less torque. This motor also needs an adapter plate.

I'm leaning towards the 5300. It has the torque to get all 4 wheels goin, but has the speed to smoke a nitro MT2.

Good news! I got my paycheck today and I'll be picking up the truck tomorrow!
