danhfvcsd, I would like to know the same thing. I find it hard to lower the battery mount. So that means I would not be able to use the mechanical break.

And can someone tell me the proper way to lock the gear? Sorry for this stupid question but I've no idea at all.

hmm - about the locked gear thing....
I have heard of some ppl locking out 1st and others locking out 2nd... - does this just depend on the elec setup (motor/esc/batts) you are running as to which gear (1st or 2nd) you will run the truck in?

Wouldn't the motor have to work harder down in low speeds if you were to lock OUT 1st and run only IN 2nd?

Is there any reason you wouldn't just keep the 2speed as it is? Could it be done without worries, or would it just hinder performance?

Is reverse an option at all in this truck?

thanks fellas :)
They were my other questions to come. :D Or would it be worthwhile doing some custom work and running a single buggy center diff?

Running center diffs is great but for ppl who dont really have machining skills and tools like me, it would be just a dream. Or maybe its just me..

Please excuse me if i'm asking blatently dumb questions here - but as i said earlier, i'm not all that familiar with the savage.....

Would you be running reverse with the 2speed or would you be locking in a single gear?

I have also heard of a 'Reverse kit' kinda thing available for savage - would you be using this item, or would you be using the reverse/brakes of the controller/motor?

hang on - a better question here would be - How would you be setting up the transmission for using reverse? As in - servo brakes with reverse module? Or like - single locked gear with reverse/brakes of esc/motor?

(I hope that's a better question! -lol-)

hmmm - just a quick queiry on reverse.....

with the reverse module that is available, how does it engage reverse?
As in - it it similar to the LST's tranny? where a servo moves an arm to shift something inside the tranny to engage reverse? So that the motor spins the same way for forwards, AND reverse....i would assume this is how it must be done, as nitros don't spin in reverse -lol-

Therefor - you have 2 options?....

option 1 - keeping the 2speed as it is with the reverse module installed?

option 2 - locking out either first or second - but does this mean that reverse now much be used with the esc/motor orrrrr.....?

Sorry for all the questions, but would appreciate as much feedback as possible :)

Yeah the reverse is a optional module installed into the tranny. It runs off a 3rd channel and servo.

Should try asking one question and waiting untill a reply to ask another one because there are a lot of unanswered questions.

okay, this here are some facts;

the conversion includes a 1 speed shaft, it is locked in 1st gear, and you can brake on the motor. (and drive backwards as well) with a few mods, you can lock it in 2nd.

You can use the standard transmission, (2speed) with a Y-cable you can split the speedo and the brake servo. (make sure the reverse on your esc is disabled) the motor is no longer able to slow down the vehicle, because of the one way bearings that are in the transmission.

You can also add the reverse module with the last cald option, not needed for the BL conversion..

If you have got any other q's feel free to ask them..

Serum, is there any other way to lock the 1st gear other than using the shaft included in the conversion? I'm not planning to buy the conversion kit.And I dont think i'm going to use the mechanical break. Im in the process of fabricating the motor mount and the battery holder. Please shed some light...
