I certainly hope the .8% figure is a typo, anything less than 5% is considered unhealthy, 3-5% are essential fats needed to survive

I know it stinks, and it's expensive and supposedly it's disgusting (chew is way worse in my book).

I do work out regularly and I did find a few easy tips to weight loss, as I did manage to drop 15lbs in two weeks. Just count calories in general. It was actually really depressing at first. I found I was taking in over 3500 calories a day. Between soda and snacks, it was out of hand. I brought my self down to 1800 and stayed with my exercise program and the weight dropped off. I do need to shed a few more as the Army says I'm almost fat, which is my fault as last year I tried to put on 10lbs of muscle and now they say I'm overweight.

/sigh
That is awesome! Seriously, I wish more people were considerate of those around them. My brother and his wife used to smoke (they're in the process of quitting) and they were always really considerate as well. Very cool.

I agree that chew is pretty disgusting. My first major beat-down in high school was because some urban "cowboy" (never seen a horse, but dressed like a cowboy and magically developed an accent) spit chew on my foot. After I bloodied him up, I rubbed his bloody face in the chew-spit. I loved high school.

I can't even imagine dropping 15 lbs in two weeks. I think it would kill me. I'm going to try counting calories to see where I'm at. I've never really paid much attention, but I'm sure I consume too many. A lot of my weight is actually muscle, but it's hiding behind the fat.

Counting calories does work. About 3-4 years ago I dropped from 265 to 190 using that method. It did take about 9 months, and i was not too religious with it. I did exercise daily, and use a heart rate monitor to gauge my sucess while exercising. I tried to limit my carb intake, and eat more lean protien. Tuna out of the can was my friend! Anyways i am back up in weight and need to loose some pounds. I hurt my back during the Katrina cleanup and it took me about 2.5yrs to get that fixed. I also got married, so I ate that damn wedding cake (adds 40 lbs easy). But I need to loose weight now, and feel healthy again. I have always had a slow metabolism, so a very low calorie intake is key for me to drop the weight. 1200-1400 calories a day is my target. I know that sounds low, but when I was exercising regularly 1100 calories was a normal day, and I felt great.

Body type and metabolism vary greatly. I have large leg muscles (most likely from carrying my fat ass around) so biking worked best for me. My best was 9 miles a day, with at least 8.5 of those with a 107+ bpm heart rate. You have t get your heart rate up, and keep it up for over 20 mins to get any effect from exercise. I could usually keep my heart rate uo over 170 for at least 40mins after I got in better shape. I did it 7 days a week. Not sure if that worked best, but I made a routine out of it. That was my trick, just exercise every day at the same time, so it is just part of the day. I would bike daily, rain or shine.

Sounds like we have some lard asses here, hope we can all trim up a bit. The ladies are watching!

I'm in! I don't care so much about my actual weight though, just the content of it (fat vs. muscle).

Anyway, I only want to lose 20 lbs to get down to 185.

I’m so down for this!!!!

So how do you want to do it..

My suggestion:
• We take basic measurements (biceps, forearms, chest, stomach and thighs) post results
• We weigh ourselves post results
• Our overall goals We post
• Before and after shoots after being what1, 2 or 3 months?? Post results (PLEASE) have shorts on guys! But don’t be afraid to show the belly!..

The winner is chosen by the RCM family members and takes the first RCM fitness award? I’ll go out a get a plaque / trophy and mail it out to whoever wins..

Loser.. Well there aren’t any losers because you’re bettering your body…

Who’s in????

RCM first annual “fat a thon” contestants:
• Arct1K

P.S.
I say we start on the 9th, it a Monday so that will give all of the people one last weekend to get hammered or whatever..

I used to weigh 195, im 5-11. Was growing a double chin. Then I quit drinking booze and lost 15lbs in a few months LOL. 12 beers is like 1500 calories. Im up to 187 from all the holiday festivities plus its freezing snow winter here, not much playing in the park. I'd like to turn that 7lbs of fat into 10lbs of muscle. The wife just bought some exercise equipment (sit ups and push ups things) and I got a weight bench and all the bars/weights. No way im taking a bare pic though, im a hairy german, and being winter havent buzzed my fur coat in months

I will let you know that first week of counting calories should be nothing more than a log of breakfast, snacks, lunch, dinner etc. You want to get a stable reading before you cut the calories way down. If you go to low you will notice a significant drop in energy and you will crash by the end of the day.

I almost cried (not really, but you get the drift) when I realized that a candy bar and a soda was usually over 500 calories. Almost 1/3 of what you should be eating in a day. Yikes!! You will also want to get a base of how many calories that you burn daily, this can be found on google I am sure. That way you know where you need to get down to.

For significant weight loss you will want to take in less calories than you burn. Intake vs. Output and all. If you just cut down the total number of calories that you are in taking you will lose some weight, just not as much. Please note that you need to step down gradually. If you go from 3000 to 1500 calories in like two days you will be miserable and will just want to sleep.

Try to get around 15-1800 calories and you will be in good shape in no time. Pun intended.
