i would have to say the 8ight T all the way. the parts like the a arms or just over built they are super thick. the hinge pins are 4 or 5 mills thick. the shock shafts are 4 mills thick. the standed for shock shafts are 3 mills but now you see more brands going with 3.5 mills. i think the losi just drives better. plus parts for losi are way easy to get i find more hobby shops can get parts for losi then x-ray.

When you say the 8ight-T drives better, can you give more info? Have you tested or owned the XT8 or some of the others?

I've never driven the XT8 or the 8ight-T but have seen many of the 8ight-T's at our track. They're pretty nice, but haven't proven as durable as the CRT from what I've seen at the races. They definietly handle better than the CRT though.

Anyone seen the new ST-RR? Seems like that's another option to throw into the "best" category. Although I don't like how narrow it is when I see the specs.

i've only conversion built and driven the 8-T roller but i have no complaints so far...

track only use and mainly in open practice sessions and in 5-7 min. qualifiers...

i had to tone it down from it's origional 1515 1Y/F [4s-2p] 14 tooth pinion set up...

it was just too hot a set-up for our local [medium size, tight lay-out] track...

went with a 1515 1.5Y/F and NeuEnergy [5s] set-up lowering the peak rpm's by aprox. 5000 and amp draw by 30-40 amps making it easier control and giving us longer run times...

Thanks for the great info Ron. I'll be going to the Neu lipos too . . . I'll be running a NeuEnergy 6s 3900 in my XT8 this spring. Just ordered it last week. Now if only the CC and Tekin ESC's would hit the market I could get this thing built and provide my own testing feedback!!

i'm not holding by breath for Castle to get off the pot!

i'm running a MGM 16016 with twin cooling fans and it's doing very well so far...

the fans brought the esc temps down by 25 degrees to the 125 degree range where they level out and hold...

see the avatar pic above...

Well, the thing I have going for me is time. I planned on building this truck over the winter so I've got a couple months. I feel pretty good about either Castle or Tekin hitting the market by mid February or the start of March.

well i have driving the mugen an the x-ray truggies an both are really good but i just like the way the losi handles. it just feels more planted an turns a little better but when i tried them that was in nitro. couldn't really say whats better when they go electric i just think the losi cause you can move the battery pack colser to the center of the chassis. i seen the new st-rr but dont know to much about them.

I see. From what I've read - the XT8 is not as good out of the box, but has much more adjustability and when tuned right is insane. Like I said though, I don't have my XT8 running yet.

All of the major brand truggy's are pretty close to each other in my opinion. My JAMMIN was built according to the book & handels great. Some may have more adjustments but if you dont understand all the adjustments your going to get frustrated with your truggy. If i did't get a SWEET deal on my jammin i personally would go with a MUGEN X5T

+1. All the truggies mentioned are great. The driver is what seperates them. We had a sponsered event at my track this year and a local Jammin CRT took the prize over factory drivers. Converting the truggy changes much of their personality anyway. I would suggest you consider going with what your local hobby shop or track carries the most support for, and how much replacement parts are. This aside, I'd go with an 8T due to the offset diff.

I have been reading and one thing I thought my help you decide is considering parts availability. I have both the X-Ray buggy and just picked up the Losi 8ight-E buggy, while I haven't had time to compare durability I will say getting parts for my X-ray buggy is a pain in the butt. I have a great local hobby shop, but it is smaller and they have to have a certain dollar amount in a order to buy from X-Ray. I have waited as long as a month for a part. That being said though you will likely not need a lot of parts for the X-Ray they are tough. Not saying the 8ight isn't just haven't messed with it to much yet. I also just bash I don't race, I throw that in because I don't know what you plan to do. Good luck let us know what you get.

So, Its been about 10 months since this thread kinda died.

Anyone want to chime in now that some time has passed?

1) What is (in your opinion) the best Truggy?

and more importantly...

2) Why?

I used a "bottom" line.

I do like my Hyper ST Pro:

- Comes with all upgrades as stard
- Tough as nails (good for my driving ability)
- Turns like a buggy
