Looks like you need a couple more teeth on your pinion camel
Work because i gotta, play because i wanna
People here hate Nitro, I love it. I start it, run it about 50 ft from me and it dies, I go after it. Perfect exercise

Really? I've never owned a BL before, so I wouldn't know what to gear up to and these pinions are too expensive to buy a full set.

Hey camel we have the same setup (Feigao 8S/12t pinion), but I run mine on 11.1v lipo and it tends to heat up alot. Let me know if your motor does on six cells. I was told to drop down to a 10t pinion because the 8S doesn't like high voltages.

It's a little hard to say. The chassis itself got up to 110 degrees, the rest of the stuff was about 130 after running for a few minutes. All this dang heat!

I don't know much about brushless either i was going by the video, unless the tires were spinning and i didn't notice, if so i apoligize just going by what i see. I agree, mod 1 pinions are not cheap

Okay Camel, this is easy. Do you know the Final Gear Ratio of your driveline? If no, just count the teeth. Don't forget the diff.
When you have the FGR, measure the circumfence of the tires.
Then calculate the rpms of your motor at full throttle. That's the KV rating (rpm per volt) times the voltage of your batts.
And then do the calculation. Aim for 30 to 35 mph with the teeth number on the pinion as X in the equation.
Sounds complicated, but it isn't. I guess you already did this anyway.
Check the temps. Don't let them exceed 180 degrees Farenheit. If your motor is under 180 after a full run, you are fine.
Also, make sure the MGM is properly set up. I heard the MGM's have alot of parameters.
If you have a bit of experience with a certain combo, you kinda feel and hear if it's properly geared. It's not good if the motor revs up to easy. And you also feel it if it has to push too hard.
Good Luck, and let us know how you like it.
(don't forget, I'm also rather a BL newbie, but that's how I do it. Mike is the guy with the most experience here, and I think he has this motor in his Pede)

HAD the motor in my pede. Lehner basic 4200 in the pede now. Not as powerful, but plenty for me! Of course I can help if needed.

Camel, have you heard this? If it's more powerfull than what Mike says is plenty, you wil have a really fast RC.
A pede should be comparable to your HPI, right? Concerning weight.
Let us know if you have any doubts with your gearing. I assume this motor should be able to push your ride to 35mph on six cells without much of a problem.

I'm really not sure if it's geared right or not. The controller is in some anti-wheely mode or something like that, but it's goes fast and gets to that speed fast. I think I'll have to do some GPS running to see if it's doing the 35 MPH it should.

The no wheelie thing is not all bad. Can't drive if tires not on ground. If it acelerates good. That is more important. Imo
Peace!

One of the MGM controller's parameters is the acceleration. You set it for how fast you want it to accelerate to full speed. The slower you set it, the slower it will accelerate, and the fewer amps it will pull, and the less likely it will wheelie. The faster it is set, the more amps it will pull, but it would more likely flip the truck onto its top.

I actually kind of like the way it is witht the "traction control" . Less wear on the tires.
I really want to take it off roading, maybe tomorrow I'll take a trip to the bmx jumps up my street.

After a little more running, I think I've decided that it's undergeared, so I think I will get some Proline M2K's to make it a little more MT like and then it should be properly geared.

Yep, undergeared is no good either. This 35mph was just a carefull guesstimation. Might as well be a good deal more. I have no experience with this kind of cars.
Just watch the temps.

As Metalman mentioned, the MGM controllers have a soft acceleration parameter as a default. This makes for a smoooooth takeoff and minimizes wheelies. If you want more punch, adjust this parameter first. The 8s motor has plenty of power to turn the larger tires, but you will find the truck doesn't handle nearly as well(flips etc.). Depending on where you run and the type of running you do, this may affect you "fun". I didn't like the bigger tires on my mt racer.
