Neu Motor Max Voltage? - 03.07.2008, 06:17 PM

Can anyone tell me what the max voltage that u can safely run to a Neu 1521/1y motor is? (i mean w/o screwing it up.) It would be used with a Castle HV controller, which is good for up to 12S lipo at 4,000 watts

I think Neu rate their motors for 60,000rpms, so do a simple bit of maths (kv rating x voltage) and that will give you your answer.

I'm running the 1521 1.5D with 37V's and so far its held together, of course I can only stand in it for about 1 sec....as the truck is doing ballastic speeds by then.

I ran a max of 37 volts on mine and it was just ballistic. My wattage peaked at 4760. Had to put new spider gears afterwards.
