MM on 6s? check these batts out - 03.31.2008, 11:28 PM

Well I am ordering my MM and CCBEC tomorrow. I think i just found a steal for batts and want to know if the MM could handle 6s lipo with the CCBEC? and check these batteries out. they are cheap for 3s... the least expensive 3s packs ive seen...

No way. Some can run on 5s, but that's pushing it. I once ran a MM on 6s A123's, which is less less volts than 6s lipos, and it thermalled after a few minutes.

Wait a few more weeks for the MMM if you want to use those lipos, which do look like a good deal, btw.

well if the esc will blow if i use 6s then i might as well not waste my time and just go for 4s instead. search under lipo packs on that site. they have 4500mAh 7.4v for like $45 too... and i was going to wait for the MMM and all, but already have a big motor just need an esc so why wait for the system to come out... plus look at how long we have been waiting and been put off about the MMM. it was supposed to be out in feb, then mar, now late spring... im not sure if i should even bother with that

what about venoms 120A airplane esc? it claims a mode for "hard start" but im not sure how hard that will be... and looks like it has a usb port so maybe its programable? and it can handle the 6s power...

For a BL conversion with mechancial brakes, I think thats a good priced esc to try- no motor brake or reverse mind.

The swang lipos look very good.

Im sure it will be okay- even with 'soft start' escs it isnt that bad- just like punch control on the MM really.

well ive decided not to run 6s and only 4... so i guess the MM will be a better and more adjustable system, even though the venom is pc programable...

actually i didnt play into affect that im running a motor with 3500kv... i just saw 3s 4500 lipos for $50... that was like... whoa! but yeh 6s would be pushing near 80k rpms, nearly double the recomended for the motor... haha. still looking at the swang 2s packs though. they seem like an amazing deal... unless someone else knows where i can get batts that sized for that cheap?

If you wanna get cheap noname chinese cells, may as well go with hobbycity: http://www.hobbycity.com/hobbycity/s...idProduct=6350 $58 for a 5000mah 3s. Dunno what price will say in that link, they always drop a few $ if your logged in to your accout though.

Also, soft start on esc's is much worse than punch control I think (at least it is on the turnigy sentilon that I run). Don't even think about blipping the throttle mid air to balance the car, or trying to control a drift with the throttle once youve already backed off. The sliding thing you can get used to with technique, with jumping though you rarely even have enough time in the air for the throttle to engage enough to correct the cars angle, its v annoying. On that note, anyone looking for a used turnigy hv controller or two can pm me.
