You all being the masters of brushless and me bieng the noob... I was wondering what brushless setup you guys would recommend for an LST. I was contemplating the Fine Design one but it seem expensive for what you get.. You could almost do a Neu Brushless crazy fast setup for that much.. What motor/ESC would you recommend for an LST? I would plan on running lipos.. I really want a big powerful battery so I can geta decent run/bash time.. 4s for sure maybe 6s.. Would a Maxamps 10000mAh 5s 18.5V be out of the question? I want to build a monster...

A feigao 12xl on 6s lipo would be a nice combo. I am sure that you will leave the mech brakes, so you can use an air esc, or possibly the MMM when it comes out. I am not sure of how to lock the tranny in the lst so that you can use motor brakes, but someone else here will chime in with the info.

Sounds good!!.. I wouldn't use motor brakes.. just more heat for the ESC... the mechanicla brakes are awesome, and they're not in ur way...

What esc would be good like a Hydra 120 or would I need something like the Quark monster? Or would a phoenix 120 with a pix stix work just as good? Would a NEU motor be overkill?

The Quark Monster has been overshadowed by the now popular & better Quark SSB over here.

Takes up to 6S, no external BEC required as it has an inbuilt adjustable, the heatsink is mounted directly on the FETS, comes in a bundle box with a handheld controller, fan & wiring all for a measly $399Aud from Ark Innovations.

I'll be using this in my carbon LST2 with a Feigao 6XL, stock gearing & just to trial 3800Mah 4S 20C pack. This may be a perfect package (apart from the battery) for motor/gearing/ESC. My truck will weigh no more than 5.2kg ready to blast. It was previously 5.49kg rtr as a nitro.

Custom clutch adapter & motor mount. Adapter's done, but, still working on the mount. Going to mod a Tekno Revo battery tray to suit (my mate wanted blue straps, so, he gave me his black ones.).

I believe that any ESC without some type of cooling mechanism is a burnout waiting to happen.

My mount is going to be a custom job like the clutch adapter, so, you can't buy it. When it's done, if it's any good I may get a bunch made up to sell including the clutch adapter as a kit.

To give you an idea of the clutch adapter, think of the Revo Tekno conversion, I took the adapter they made & changed it to suit my needs.

Mind you, mine is slightly different & will also work for other cars. It works beautifully too.

I'll wait till I get the mount completed & then I'll take a few pics of all the parts I'll use & post it as it goes together.

My mate's using a 7XL with RC Monster heatsink, MM with fan, Maxxamps 14.8v 6000mAh 4S with the Tekno kit, standard gearing & he went back to the locked centre diff to save tires & get the power down more easily.

He gets 25min run times & with the locked centre it pops a wheelie which you can hold for ages, when it kicks 2nd & 1/4 throttle. Off the mark on 80% punch control when nailed it jumps off the ground about 30cm & lands on it's lid! I loved driving it. Can't wait for mine to be completed, I will toast him!!

Just to enlighten you guy's, I'm changing to brushless due to health problems from breathing nitro fumes & I guess I just want some real power for a change. I'm considering the conversions for my Kyosho Kanai III buggy & my Hong Nor X1CRT. Although, the CRT is about to be superseeded by the X2 & I may just buy that as a pro kit & build it up as a brushless from scratch. Eh we'll have to see as I really don't have $600 spare for ESC's.
