ESC choice: Castle Phoenix 180 or MGM 22418-3 in LST2 conversion - 04.20.2008, 10:42 PM

Hello everyone!!!

I need help in choosing the right ESC for my E-LST2 project. It'll run on 4S LIPO. I'm stuck with 4S because this is the maximum limit our club enforces. 6S would be real nice...

A little historical background on this build.

I got an LST2 roller from a chop-shop since it'll be going BL anyway.
I bought a MGM 22418-3 which smoked while being calibrated to a Neu 1521/1D/F. AAAARRRRGGGHH!!! Well, I sent it back to Czech Republic for repair and upgrade to 3.22 SW and I'm glad to report that it's now running fine. They have excellent service but it takes longer to get stuff back because of their location. In the wait for the return of the ESC from Europe, I got a Phoenix 180 since the MMM is still not out yet. Good thing I'm using a Nomadio Sensor radio because the calibration is a little quirky to do if you're using a standard type gun radio. The Phoenix 180 runs well with the Neu motor but no brakes.
Since I'll be using mechanical brakes anyway, this is not an issue.

Question 1: Which of the two controllers is best suited for this build?

Question 2: Which of the two has better lipo cut-off?

Any inputs will be highly appreciated.

Many thanks.....

Sell the MGM, wait a week and get the MMM, use the Pheonix180 in the interm. I like to stay with one brand, that way when I call in for service the company can see I am a loyal patron and push their product :)

If I could only draw what I see in my head, then afford to build it, and finaly get to play with it...

From the two Castle products I have (the MM and HV-110), they tend to underrate their products. And support is a phone call or email away. I've never called them, but have received fast email responses in the past.
