Neu motor design changes?? - 04.21.2008, 03:52 PM

I just got my 1515/2Y back from Neu for repair and noticed several design changes from teh original motor I got ~8mos ago. First of all the shaft now has a flat spot for a set screw. The end bell now seems held on by small hex screws (rather than glued or whatever before) and lastly the front bearing seems larger.

My magnet seperated from the shaft, and a front bearing failure was also listed. So basicially its a brand new motor.

Has anyone else seen these changes? I'm curious to see if the F bearing is indeed bigger. I remem that being one of the changes CC employed to the Neu for the MMM, and I wonder if that will be std now given how many Neus are going into cars these days. Has anyone tried to remove the endbell? Hopefully its easy in case the bearing fails again I can more easily replace it.

Kudos to Neu tho. Sent the motor in and it was back within two weeks. Only had to pay for the shipping there and fill out a simple form on their site. :) :)
