First E- Revo - 05.02.2008, 05:15 PM

Yeah, im new too all of this but just saw the new e-revo and looked in to this conversion and wanted to convert my nitro revo 2.5r over to electric. I was thinking of getting the Tekno RC Brushless conversion kit, but dont know what motor or ESC to get also the battery. I would like for it to run at least 25-30 mins, but more would be better. im not going to race it or anything.

So is it mostly for bashing/jumping?
Do you have a $ limit?

Be a good idea to read through the REVO section on the forum http://www.rc-monster.com/forum/forumdisplay.php?f=24 and you will see plenty of ideas on conversions.
I good allround conversion would be the Feigao/Nemesis/Wanderer 9XL or maybe 8XL http://www.rc-monster.com/proddetail...WAND_XL&cat=20
You don't really need to go over 5S but still me wise to get the new Castle Mamba Monster as by the time you get the Mamba Max, a fan and a BEC you nearly spent as much as a Mamba Monster which comes with all those features - http://www.rc-monster.com/proddetail...steresc&cat=20
Read through these 2 topics and you may get some ideas

I'd stick to either TrueRC or Flightpower for batteries. Flightpower is better, but also quite a bit more expensive. The TrueRC packs are great, but not quite at the quality of the flightpower packs. The Mamba Monster ESC would be perfect for your truck. The Tekno conversion is good, but some aren't really a fan of the clutch on electric motors. You could go with the RC-Monster motor mount and just use the Tekno mounts to mount the electronics.

Whats wrong with the motor mount in the tekno conversion? and what would the RC-Monster motor mount do to help the clutch/ not use it?
How much power in the batteries?
I know about the ESC and motor but what about the receiver and transmitter? can i use the traxxas ones?

The Traxxas TX/RX will be fine as long as you make sure they do however many channels as you need.

The tekno mount sits far back from the transmission, so you must use the clutch adapter to reach far enough to mesh with the spur. A standard pinion will not be long enough to engage. The RC Monster mount is designed to be used with a spur, and sits closer to the transmission. It would not be possible, at least not easily, to use the clutch with the RCM mount, nor a standard mod 1 pinion with the tekno kit.

I've not used a clutch on electric before, but I'm plenty happy with the performance using the RCM mount and a standard mod 1 pinion on my revo.

Not sure what you mean by "how much power in the batteries ?".

Battery really depends on budget. You got 2S (7.4V) 3S (11.1V) 4S (14.8V) etc. etc. Good battery will be 4S 5000 but then you got to measure what battery tray you will be using to see if it will fit the way you like. If you run a 4S battery you will only require 1 but if you were to use a 2S you will more than likely require 2.
Yes the Castle Mamba Monster is a ESC - http://www.castlecreations.com/produ...a_monster.html
Here is the link to RC-Monster Motor Mount - http://www.rc-monster.com/proddetail...d=RCMrevomount You can buy parts from the Tekno kit by themselves if you wanted to do a custom setup http://www.teknorc.com/product_info....roducts_id=940

Some people have had decent luck with the stock reciever. When I switched mine to brushless power, I only had about 20 yards of range. When I switched to a futaba 2.4 ghz it was much better. If you upgrade, it won't be a waste of money.
