I'm famous! -
09.10.2005, 12:19 AM
About four or five months ago, I got an offer I couldn't refuse, a possible feature article in R/C Car Magazine. As time went by, there was a photo shoot, and several meetings. For what, you ask? My Ofna 9.5 1/8 buggy that I made brushless, I always knew it was cool, but never really thought it'd be magazine material though. It blew the guys away to just see it sitting there in the office the first time the saw it, then I ran it in the parking lot and they freaked out.....it sealed the deal for sure.
Anyway, flash forward to today......super ultra mega cool update: I got my hands on one of the first November issues! The one I have is unbound because it was one of the first batches the printer did, the bound ones will be shipped out in about a week to R/C Car, and then I can get the prettier version.......but this one's still pretty freakin' cool.
Anyway, I naturally took a ton of pics of it, for documentation purposes, of course. :D
Da cover! What's that toward the bottom?

Congrats mate!
Is that a 3.17mm shaft on that motor?? looks like the pinion is sitting on the very end..?
No rc-monster.com in the 'free-plugs'? ;)

It's the 1/8" shaft, and yes, the Traxxas pinion is almost totally at the end. I've since ditched 32p completely and gone with mod1 to find it's sooo much better, running 12/52 gearing like the article says.
That article was done up before I was a member here, but I got the pinion and 9918 from Mike, so I guess that counts. :D

Are you aware that it's likely your shaft will snap used like this?

Yeah, I know there's a chance of that, but I can't really do anything now.......it still works just fine. If it does die, I'll go with a 5mm bore 9L, but until then I'll just have fun with my little German rocket!

I have a 7XL Wanderer here waiting for an MBX5
The shaft of the Lehners seem to be tough. After extensive bashing with my TF, it's still going strong, and I had to attach the pinion similar as dabid.

Way to go man. That is like so cool. I glad for you. I should get that issue. I just signed up for the magazine. I have to read up on it more.
Peace!

MetalMan's regulator showed up, but the mention of it being made by a "friend" didn't for some reason. Also, if you count up the pages not including the cover, it's 5. :p

This whole expierence with R/C Car magazine has been awesome! From getting a feature article to free NOS Energy Drink to free cars (mainly TT01's). That was really cool of them to let us have the pre-released issue.
I dragged my BL MT2 along just for craps and giggles and they really liked it. I'm going to get it all fixed up and ditch the battery tray for a better made one (they laughed at the duct tape). Hippy said that if I get a better battery tray for it, it would make a feature article. By the way, Skinny really liked the RC-Monster heatsink for the motor. :)

Hey Dabid. Did you see the article in the october issue where they painted you're body? With a sharp eye you can see the motor and some wires.
Work because i gotta, play because i wanna
People here hate Nitro, I love it. I start it, run it about 50 ft from me and it dies, I go after it. Perfect exercise

Nah, never heard of that one, is it close to this one? ;) I got that issue a week before it hit the shelves too, but this is the more special one.
