Buy the metal motor mount, it will help with the spur gear stripping. I have taken my tt-01 up to 74 mph so far, and never stripped a spur.

Not sure, try out the tamiya forum. Mine is mostly stock, save for the al center shaft, metal motor mount, and the tamiya plastic oil filled shocks. Nothing else is necessay, save for a good set of bearings. Great car, very strong. I have drifted mine, ran some high speeds, and never broken anything.
