Does maxx diffs works in Revo diff cases? - 05.30.2008, 03:59 AM

Hey guys, I am having problems with my Revo's rear diff (quite stiff in an area while turning, makes noise while driving) I was wondering if I could pop a aluminum diff into the revo's diff cases? Reply ASAP.

Thanks.

I dont think so. Two totally differenet animals. I have never attempted placing the Maxx diffs into a Revo diff case, but I do believe that they are designed totally different (SIZE). If there is another type of diff gear set that can be placed into the Revo diff housing I have not heard of it. There is a thread on here where someone modified the Maxx bulheads to receive the Revo Diff units, but that all I have seen. Good luck with that.

Considering the diff carriers are two different part #'s I would say no. I know they are close, but prolly not exactly the same. Traxxas likes to reuse parts as much as possible, so I think they would have if it was possible.

I was under the impression that the newer 3905 E-Maxx diffs would fit the Revo.

From the Traxxas site:
"Sealed Revo®-Spec Differentials
New Maxx differential housings feature tunable sealed differentials with Revo internals for maximum tuning ability. Precision sealed with Traxxas X-ring silicone seals, E-Maxx differentials are designed for long-lasting performance and the ability to tune for specific running conditions. Built to handle extreme torque and power, these differentials offer unmatched versatility and toughness."

Check out the description here for P/N 3978:

It looks like P/N 3978 includes P/N 5381 and a couple of other parts. A quick call to Traxxas would answer it for sure though.

Well crap then... a bunch of R/C enthusiasts from my town are having a get together tomorrow, I just sure hope the differential doesn't go on me when I show those nitro cowards up!

The diffs have always had a 'stiffer' spot in the rotation, but the front one is very minimal now, but the rear seems to have got alot worse... it feels like 6 teeth on the ring gear are clicking when i turn it, very notchy.

Does anybody know how I can remedy this? Thanks.
