Look wait the mail man brought me today! I scored this rebuild / E conversion off E-Bay for a $250.00 (I think It’s worth it?!) We’ll see find out. I did come with loads of extra parts (small ones that will kill you if you don’t have them, kind of parts). It was purchased in 5/23/07 so it just over a year old this thing sold for $589.99, so I paid just over 40 cents on the dollar. I'm Feeling pretty good about that..

Look what I when out and bought myself today! (I'm feeling pretty good abut these too)..

Dammm I hate the smell of Nitro so its a dissembling I go!..

Nothing!.. Hahahahaaa..

Ok, well after a soak in part cleaner (figuratively speaking) here is the parts look like at this point.. Not to bad at this point,

Next I need to strip it all the way down and change the oil in the front and rear diffs to 5,000 and use 30,000 in the centers. I already ordered the complete set of front and rear shocks off the 808 for this buggy (should have them next week).. I’ll also need to check the and probably replace the bearings as well..

I'm also thinking of striping off all of this aftermarket XRay anodized parts to just shinny alum??. Something to try in the days to come. I’ve had great success with striping off Traxxas anodized off but I’ve never attempted any Huddy / Xray related! Have you??..

If you have any recommendation that I need to perform during it’s transformation from a Nitro burring, gas spewing, ozone depleting, garage smelling bad boy!. Into the environmentally friendly, local park driving, neighbor liking, track worthy (E) buggy.. Please feel free to shoot them my way!..

Well that all I’ve got for tonight,

Thanks for looking and have a great one team..

P.S.
I'm thinking I’ll be using the following for its E-conversion
1. RCM battery tray
2. A 5mm 17t pinion gear
3. A Neu 1512 2d S
4. Some sort of 4s Lipo 25 -30c / I need something that fits in a 48mm x 144mm x 50mm (any suggestions??)..
5. I pre-paid Mike for a MMM months ago (one the sort list but missed the first shipment) I'm hopping to get mine on the second run?? (if there is ever going to be future shipments?).. if not I’ll just another MGM.

Nothing!.. Hahahahaaa..

Hay Drift Buggy!!!,
This is going to be my backup racer to my 808 / my sons practice car.. I would love to stick a Neu 1509 in it, a (1509 1.5 ys) that can handle 4s but nobody is running the 1509 everybody is running the 1512 (something)..

I don’t know for now it a new toy to strip it apart and rebuild it..

Have a great one..

Hey TDC another project already? Man you have really got the R/C bug now. Looking at and reading yoru posts now it looks like you have been at this conversion stuff for years. I do think it is great that you are begining to get your son involved with things. I cannot wait to get my two boys involved, and my daughter if she is interested. They are 9, 11, & 12 though. How old is your son Shaun? Anyway Your threads are always a treat because of the educational benefits that you provide as you learn how these things go together and what parts are required for an E-conversion. Nice find on the new toy. So how is the wife being about your new induldgence in the R/C hobby? I hope she remains cool calm and colective and lets you do y our thing. We have seen too many of these adventures end up with big blow outs and guys selling their toys to please the wife. Good luck with everything buddy.

Good morning Jerry!.. thanks for the above vote of confidence I’ve got some of the best gentlemen behind me kindly taking the time out of there day to answer and all questions proposed, so I’ve token advantage of the knowledge and just apply it my builds.

I've had this dam addiction for a while now and since I just sold my G3.0 I had some extra I needed to fill. LOL lol.. I'm hoping it will slowly start to interest my kids more than just driving and breaking dads toys, well see… It was a great deal the kind you cant pass up and it something new to build.. Hhheeee heeee..

Thanks again for your comments and I hope you move went smooth??.

Here are some shots of forward progress that I was able to make this past week,

Completely disassembling the front and rear ends

Starting the De-anodizeation process for all of the Almu parts.

Halfway through the process,

Completed the transformation from a mild manner (blue and chrome) to polished

All of the anodized off and it been polished to high gloss finish.

Front assemble going back together rather easy and without any issues so far.. Got to love the XRay..

Nothing!.. Hahahahaaa..

Time to work on the diffs I'm removing all of the old fluid and installing 7000 in the front, 30,000 in the center and 5,000 in the rear. Plus I’l be checking the bearings, seals and wear for possible required replacement.. Good news everything is good..

Time to install the front end and center drive

That's all for now..

Thanks for your time and have a great day team!..

It looks as if you have been a bit busy today. So how exactly will you be mounting your motor on that center diff? What motor and setup will you be going with this time? Your getting pretty good at this now.

808 shocks dont bolt on a tq. i think you need the adapter thingy that comes on a losi rear arm package. look on xray forum for the exact part. at first i thought you were crazy to remove the traditional xray black but man it looks awesome.

Hay Jerry…
I’ll be weighting for Mike to complete his latest round of XRay mounts and using them, I'm undecided on the motor and lipos requirements at this point, I wait a while read other peoples threads and learn from them before I chose my combo.

Thanks for the vote of confidence and the kinds words..

Have a great one Jerry..

Hay auto2 what’s happen..
Actually the front shocks should bolt right on without and mods, the rear shocks will require that I install the rear shock shaft off of the Lossi shocks. I also picked up the front and rear suspension parts off ebay so I might convert this into a 808 we’ll see what happens along the path of completion.

Yes I know I was extremely hesitant on removing the Ray colors at first but after about 5hrs of cleaning and polishing I think it was worth it, I’ve never seen a fully polished XRay so thought (what the hell)..

Thanks for your comments and have a great day..

Good choice on diff oils .

Another buggy already?!? I just sold off my Hyper 8 Pro to a guy I work with, since I'm saving up to buy my own real car.

Those de-anodized parts do look pretty good - I too was thinking "why on earth would he do that?" but they came out nicely.

Good job!
