hi bl-is-future, there won't be a problem for you guys that use lipo! but I'm NOT going to use lipo and I'll ONLY use NiHM, so I think there's a problem for me.....even the MM can handle the tekno 1y, I don't think that 12 cell will be able to get the XT8 moving(correct me if I'm wrong)anyway, I'll get some stuffs from mike including the MGM 16018(that's good enough, right???)

if you dont have great nimh (EP IB etc) then any system WILL not handle it well at all.... i was using cheap batteries 12 nimh and when i switched to a123 all my heat issues just disappeared, and i started having driver related issues... couldnt blame my setup anymore!! so try your nimh and if they dont work try a123 if you dont like lipo in things which will get crashed and bashed...and weight is not really a huge issue.

a123 are pretty much the safest battery...
u over charge it, they just die, no fire or exploision...
u over discharge it, o well, just dont do it too much or it will lose capacity
u charge it too fast - i doubt u will be charging it faster than 40A anyway! (10A - 15Aper cell(in parallel) is recommended)

and if they get punctured then they dont catch fire!

Yeah if your only running nimh, doesnt matter what controller your running! if it wont work it wont work!

On that note though, I think it would work if you were using quality cells. Ive seen brushless systems go on good gp and intellect cells and in a stadiums and such they rival lipos (ie too much power to actually use for anything but speed runs lol)

In a big truck though, I think lithium tech is a must. I say go lipo or a123. Lipo isnt really as dangerous as they make it out to be - its just because they required a different charger (technically a lot simpler...) to nimh and nicd. I've never seen a lipo do anything bad in person, but have seen nickel cells explode pretty bad under normal running conditions...
