guy trash talking on hobbycity forum! - 06.05.2008, 03:21 PM

I found this earlier, and the more I thought about it the more ticked me off. Don't get me wrong, I am just as guilty for my recent purchase on the made in china controllers, and honesty after reading this it makes me feel even worse. The second page is where it gets good. This just seems a bit extreme actually posting links, pics and specs to the ones he wants copied.

how about this one from the same guy, saying they need to shake up novak and castle's success!

edited put the wrong post up on the 2nd link

Maybe I'm reading it worng or missing something, but what is wrong with it? The only part I find questionable is where he mentions copying a Castle or Tekin design. Other than that, it seems he is kinda listing the top performing and price ESCs...

I guess I could be reading too much into it. To me it looked like someone saying "here is the best we have to offer, please copy this and sell it to me half price" It wouldn't have gigged me so much if he'd just told what he would like to see in a controller, asked if they had it, and went on. It just didn't sit well the posting of the the competitors acutal products, then saying "So any chances of some more good quality Chinese ESC's to shake the giants Novak and Castle Creations success?" Like I said, it kind of makes me a hypocrite since I just purchased a couple china made knock offs myself. We all know its going on, just sucks to see it spelled out so plainly.

Trust me, Chinese manufacturers need no help knocking off original designs from American R/C engineering companies. And, with this serious economic downturn, there will be even more copying.

Every successful design has been, or will be, KOd. Look at the EVX2, the Velineon, the Xcelorin---Horizon managed to copy both Castle and Novak with their new BL releases.

(It's so "gratifying" when a major distributor copies a vendor's best selling items----it's only business, they say. And who, better than a distributor, knows just which items to KO?)

Don't they say the sincerest form of flattery is imitation.

The Chinese have a double edged sword coming at them. On one hand they are making money hand over fist with very little regulation, on the other hand is a giant tsunami wave coming at them (figuratively of course) and that is progress. As their standard of living keeps increasing so will production costs and it will all come out in the wash. Albeit this will not happen tomorrow by any means but it will happen.

This is what happened in the US and was fanned by the Great Depression. Right now Africa is on the rise in production and will be the next to steal the spotlight. In Nigeria alone they can't seem to get their hands on enough production equipment.

All in all I don't see anything abnormal or inherently wrong with the hobbycity thread. It is what the free market demands, everything better and cheaper.

Thats my pic of the sidewinder he yanked. I recognize it from the crappy background cropping. At least it isn't direct linked from my site.

I have some of the so called Chinese controllers and let me tell you they are not knock off anymore. They are now using their own design and from the ones I have, they are very solid. I'm currently helping a new company develop a new 1/10 scale ESC and if they add all the features you will see one amazing controller.
