Brushless looks fast

I have a nitro savage with a collari .32 in it. Its really quick. Id like to see how it compares to a decent brushless setup.

I love how the brushless setups are so quick right from the get go.

I might have to get a used savage and do a conversion. Very cool what you guys are doing.

Well maybe we can set up a drag race between you and Promod.:D I believe he has got one of the fastest brushless monster trucks out there. Over 70mph I believe.
Brushless definitely has the off-the-line advantage over nitro (at least my nitro anyway). I do have both and I enjoy my brushless E-Maxx over my T-Maxx. Wheelie bar definitely required!

I have a vid saved to my PC of big Plett powered Savage with a ton of cells against a T-Maxx in a German pulling comp.....just plain sick. The trucks are supposed to haul a milk crate with some bricks in it, the Savage lights up all 4 tires and goes careening out of control over the finish line, while the Maxx strains by literally 10 seconds later.

that is a duall plettenberg bigmaxx with 36 cells..

This is a movie of my savage with one of those motors on 16 cells.
It really is quick from 0.. not the lightest savage around though. I am going to do a new lighter 20 cell project.

about the plettenberg; The 7XL however is smoother, a tad stronger and much cheaper. (i sold my schulze/bigmaxx setup and bought a 7XL/9920)Welcome to the forum bytheway.

I used to run soley electrics. I ventured into nitro after getting back into the hobby. Now im watching brushless motors go and im wanting to venture back into electric. heh.

Dont get me wrong. Nitro is great too. I like the sound and smell of it. The power is darn good.

But the brushless systems seem to be uncontrollable beasts. LOL

Be fun to mess around with one.

I got and old monster beetle im hopping up. Maybe a brushless system in that! LOL.

don't get a bl setup for you monsterbeetle. the drivetrain will be dead with the 1st WOT you give it. i can guarantee you that. Or you are planning on buying a mamba 4200 setup...

I have tried nitros and never like them, the only thing I really prefer about nitros is they have a constant runtime & power.

Electric just seems to get slower the more you run it until it stops. (Might be different with brushless?).

P.s Serum, that is one annoying dog you have. :D

Welcome aboard stanmart. I used to have nitro as well. I liked it. But there is something about brushless that keeps me going better. I think it is just the sudden power not the wind up power. Good luck on your build up.

@Nick, that was with old batteries, the new batteries, they keep the voltage till the end, and they suddenly die..

That dog is not mine, it was from two people who where passing by.. Those dog's have got quite some energy..

Can I ask what batteries you use?

My GP3300s for the first few runs kept going then suddenly stopped but they don't seem to anymore.

My guess is that 1 or 2 of your cells is dead or less good, that way the voltage drops in steps.

That's the reason those packs need to be made from matched cells. Even with matched cells, this may occure, due to a cell failure.

It's a good idea to check your packs after charging or running. Look for cells that are exceptionally hot. The pack should have an even temp. If one cells goes bad, it will get warmer than the others in most cases.

Oh i know. I was just kidding about the BL in a beetle. Im actually in the process of upgrading the tranny though. Guy is making me some reinforced dog bones. It still wouldnt handle it i dont think. And plus you really dont need a motor that powerful in a beetle anyways. Its too much for it. I mean look it how it throws the savages around. It would be un controllable in the beetle.

Yes i did see the movie. Thats actually why i posted in this forum. Checking out some of the brushless stuff.
