Emaxx what motor to use with 16 cells? - 09.25.2005, 05:29 PM

I'm thinking of buying an Emaxx (anyone please PM me if you have one for sale btw). I'm thinking of buying an MGM160/16 for use with my 1:8 buggy and this truck, I'd go for the 9920 but I'd like to use the speed controller in my other cars (TC3, T2, etc) as well. If I got the Maxx I couldn't buy brushless immediately but it would follow fairly soon (unless someone can offer me a cracking deal on a Maxx).

So my question is, whats the best motor for 16 cells in a Maxx? Has to be 16 cells, as I have my batteries configured for 8 cell packs in my T2, and to be broken down into 4 cell packs on a weekend for stock touring car racing (4400kv 380 motor on 4 cells = same power as 27t brushed on 6 cells).

I was thinking 7XL, but if there are any other motors that will give me more speed on 16 cells I'd love to hear about them.

Finally what sort of speeds would a 7XL on 16 cells give me? I'll be throwing every RPM part at the car which is slightly heavier, and alloy bulkheads/gearboxes so it won't be the lightest car in the world. I do like to see 40-50mph on a regular basis however, so I'm hoping this setup will be able to achieve 50mph without breaking a sweat.

Thanks (and sorry for the long post!).

look for a motor with a kv rating of around 2300 rpm /volt..
I think the 7xl would be good for 45 MPH.. it should be able to do that speed...

The Power of BRUSHLESS!!!!!
