New Losi 4s Hardcase LiPo! - 08.01.2008, 02:17 PM

I was browsing Team Losi's site today and saw that they are coming out with a few new lipo packs. I scrolled down the page and saw a 4s 5000mAH 25c hardcase lipo pack.

Good to see someone making some larger packs with a hardcase. Interesting in the connectors too. By the listing it looks like they have 5mm connectors in a plastic houseing.

They must be getting ready to release a large electric vehicle.

Thats what I was thinking too. I remember at the beginning of June, I saw a picture of a a buggy being tested by Losi. It didnt have any nitro equipment at all. All I saw was a bump in the body where a BL motor should have gone.

Edit: here is the thread

A company would have to be blind/stupid not to jump into the high powered electric 1/8th market. In a lot of ways, they are already behind the curve. I think some serious electric 8th scalers could do a lot to grow the hobby.

According to the guy here in the UK Losi are already well down the road of developing their own 1/8th scale electric vehicles which should be released in the next couple of months so it's no surprise that they're starting to list components.

This lightweight EC5 Device/Battery Connector Set for 1/8-scale vehicles features gold plated contacts which efficiently transfer power in high-draw applications. The keyed +/- housing prevents damage from reverse polarity connection. This set is versatile enough to fit many situations.

I assume they are 5mm based on the name of the connector (ec5). They also have ec3's.

Good to see a mainstream company coming out with higher capacity hardcased lipos , have a feeling this catergory is going to explode .
Hope they come out with the same for 5s and up but i doubt it.

Only issue i can see is for us guys running 5s or higher . Alot of these companies have alot of influence on the ROAR , and even though i am in Australia alot of our tracks follow the same rules .

Hope they don't influence the rules for just 4s .

im liking the look of those connectors, they would be better than deans (current wise) and cannot be shorted. i may invest in some of them depending on the price. NICE FIND!!

Glad to see that Losi may be joining the 1/8th fray but I had hoped one of the big guys would develop a true quick release system. If Losi is making the vehicles AND batteries, they can whip together a custom quick release and blow everyone else's doors off. Gotta strike while the iron is hot.
