LOVING the 1515 in 8xb !!!!! - 08.05.2008, 07:13 PM

well i got my Neu 1515 2.5d /f from mike yesterday and finsihed getting it installed today and HOLY CRAP why didnt somebody drill it in my head that these motors are worth every penny, i just finished my first run. It ran for just over 26 minutes (16.5v cutoff) !!! this is just non stop rompping on it and hitting the brakes hard, as to resemble a race, which i dont guess is accurate because am a much smoother driver on the track rather than a punch and brake driver.

im geared for 38mph, with a Mod1 MM, startpower medium, timing on 5, 0% drag brake, 60% brake (custom curve), 0% punch control (nice curve pulled down at 20 and 30%), 25% reverse, 16.5v cutoff, cc bec, 30mm novak fan.

temps at 5 minutes were:
neu-110
Mod 1 mm*- 118
FP 5s 5ah - 105

at 15mins:
neu- 121
mod1 mm*- 127
FP 5s 5ah- 110

and at 26 minutes! :
neu - 130
mod1 mm* 137
fp 5s 5ah - 112

*= mm has 30mm novak fan on it (but is missing 3 blades lol)

im charging the battery right now so i can get one more run before dark

THIS IS EXACTLY what i was looking for.....

my eso606I only puts out 50w so the fastest it will charge is at 2.6 amps which SUCKS, but i cant afford a new charger right now but im getting a MRC 989 asap to go with the LBA10 i have sitting here.

but the extra time is good i need to get my ls10 put back together with its new motor and rcm mount.

Glad you are having fun..... I can't wait until I get my 1512 back from repair. I have it w/an MGM 120 and it is sooo smooth. I was a little leary of spending 220- on a motor, but I am so glad I did..

Glad the motor/ESC mounts are actually working out . I wasn't sure if the ESC mount would hold up, but it looks like Shaun's addition of the standoff did the trick.

actually metalman the wire you had glued to the bottom came off, and so did the post, along with shauns battery tray lol but the i think the esc plate needed the extra flex, and so far so good since i went through and locited everything.

btw that motor mount is PERFECT the finned neu just barely sits above the chassis, so its as low as possible without actually sitting on the chassis, plus the whole thing is super thick, which is good insurance for supporting the 1515 with mikes front and rear covers (3inches long!)

It was actually carbon fiber, and I know it wasn't well secured . I wasn't expecting Shaun to keep the ESC mount because I did a crappy job on it.

second pack went even better the outside temp was down to 90 and the esc ran about 5 degrees cooler and so did the motor, (i wasnt as hard on it, but i did ALOT of slow speed driving).

what are the chances that it will smoke the moment you turn it on? I've seen someone on this forum experienced it, im not sure of the reason, but i've seen most other said it either arm or just won't take it

Yes i run mine on 5s, i bought this one from artur and he had already used it on 5s, if yours has the mod1 try disabling the cutoff at first then if it does arm and work you can try a 16.5v cutoff (anylower and the mm recognizes it as a multiple of 3-3.2v and wont arm) also i couldnt get my controller to arm with the 16.5v cutoff with any other software than 1.16 the newest didnt work.

as artur told me trying to use the cutoff is on your own, i found a way for mine to work, no way of knowing if theyll all act the same as mine........

if it wont arm you can try not charging the battery to 100% and shut it off at 20.5 volts

the most of my worry is that it will smoke when i turn it on, arming it is the least of my worry. well im in the usa so probly gonna be around $55 for the mistake...i have badly damaged MM, wondering if i can still send to CC for replacememnt for $50? all wires been cut off and its just a mess and I was thinking CC wont take it

btw, where do you measure the MM temp? from heatsink? try it on the usb port, thats always been the hottest spot for me, always shown at least 20 degree difference than heatsink
