MM on 5s truggy - 09.01.2008, 08:12 PM

just curious and would appreciate some help ....i am in the middle of a CRT X1 truggy conversion ,my set up is ...Nue 1515/2.5/f and MMM v2 on 5s...if when i finish it and my MMM fails(which it sounds like it will ) can i use my MM from one of my crawlers as a back up as long as i use a fan and bec....on 5s and would it be a reliable set up ??....i ask this because i'm afraid to spend any more money on this conversion and not be able to run it till CC figures out the MMM problem (if they even can )...thanks for the time and any help

I'm running 5S in a model pulling around 1000 watts. You're going to be pulling a lot more power (probably close to 1700 watts peak) not sure the MM would handle it - but it's definitely a trooper.

I run a small fan on the top of mine and find that's all I really need to do. Absolutely no temp problems.

Only issue I have is that pack can't quite be at full voltage or else the MM will initialize but as soon as you pull the throtle it'll cut out. Since I have 2 fans running in the model with the 5S MM along with the CC BEC, I just let them run a few minutes to drain the battery a touch and the power-up the MM and I have no problems.

Hopefully someone can speak to how a 5S MM will handle that much power.

I would not run an mm on 5s not even if I had to. They do work fantasticly on 4s mine is on 4s at about 110deg with fan on a 70deg day.

my mm on a regular 90 degree day here in florida has never seen over 120 even after 20 min straight of track racing.

Forgot to add that I added a novak cap to mine
