hey guys i really dont know where to put this. maybe general electric? anyways sorry if this is where it should not go but here it goes.

ive been trying to save money lately and havent had much to spend on RC but im getting bored of not messing around with them so i found one of my dads older rc cars (4wd chaindriven truck? buggy?) and it seems to be a good candidate of some upgrading. (some people said here that i should restore it to its original condition but i just bought some old rc10 parts (thanks linc!) and i may do some restoring to that truck. but for this one............

it has all of the old school plastic type arms and im sure they are very weak. i have some rustler rpm arms that i can mod to make them fit. using these will also allow me to use any type of rustler compatible rims i want. also giving it a wider stance so it will handle better.

i really havent driven this truck yet so im not even sure how it will work but i figure it will be a fun project and give me something to do.

if anyone has any imput on this (discourage me from doing it... or whatever you feel) then feel free to let me know!

i was just real bored right now and was looking at it wondering what can be done.

Did linc sell you the RC-10 parts I gave him?

I sure hope you got a good deal!

I'm just kidding. He probably has enough RC-10 parts to create a fleet of them capable of taking over the world!

It sounds like a fun project. It will be cool to see what you end up doing.

ya it was definetly a good deal. came with electronics too that were worth alone more than i paid.

As this is a restoration project I would try to get everything as stock as it can be with old school elecs and stock ars etc - That just MO...

right now it is in pretty good shape and as stock as possible (minues electronics and body)

not sure which way i want to go with this truck.

Actually this looks like a project that you can really have some fun with using your creative side. Yea stock would be cool if you were able to still get parts for it, but I doubt that you can. From my perspective I would look closely at what parts from other vehicles may easily cross over and make it possible to make that rig fun, dependable, and efficiant. It is always nice when you can work on something that no one else has ever done before. It would be very hard for anyone to copy your work when the vehicle is no longer in production and parts are impossible to find. Then you will have something original that is a one of a kind(valuable) work of art. You might be able to have some fun and still sell it if you wish recovering most if not all of your investment. Some people like collecting R/C toys that are hard to come by. Good luck with the build, and with not spending any money.

thanks for your input jerry!! you are right.. it would be nice to have something unique and that is what i am going for.

im not sure how reliable it will be with the chain drive (seems kinda cheap? or easily breakable) but we will find out once i run it!

seems like it may be one rare truck. maybe i shouldnt mess with it too much.

Rare is ok if it is something that can be viabley sold for the estimated value. Otherwise it is just an old worthless R/C truck. Put it on the market and see what kind of interest you may get. You are right about the chain though. Chains are great in certain applications, but if high speed is your goal maybe not. This is just one of those projects where only you know or can make the decision on which way to go with it. If the setup is pretty tough you may have something that is worth persuing, but if you post it up for sale and someone offers you $1000 or $2000 for it, then I would sell, and put the money into something that truly is your cup of tea. Just my $0.02.

The AYK (and all other) chain drives are pretty stout as long as you keep the tension in check

those gold panners were the hot thing going i think i have 4 gold pan chassis. 1 set up as a off road buggy, one as a circle track dirt modified,and 2 chassis one from another dirt mod and one from my rc10t that i upgraded to a back metal chassis. the other dirt car has a orignal team ae grafite chassis kit that my dad used to race with at my buddies house. they raced there for 18 years 5 of them on a track with 100 foot straits. my dad won 42 feature races which were 30 laps with his one car and 22 of there daytona on dirt is what they called it which were 100 with 6 pitstops to change batteries. they saw speeds of 30 mph. extended right side arms custom foam tires turned on a lathe for stagger and grooved. ill go downstairs tomarrow and take some pics. be ready there will be a few

the few years i raced i won 8 features and 3 daytona on dirts.
