Unhappy Compatibility Spektrum DX2.0 and Mamba Monster - 10.07.2008, 05:03 AM

Hi!
I have an Haper ST converted in electric with a Mamba Monster V2 (FW 1.17), a Feigao 7XL and A123 5S2P (2 pair).
My radio is a Spektrum DX2.0 with a SR3000 receiver.
The problem is that Mamba Monster won't calibrate forward/reverse.
When I switch on the Monster (with full throttle forward on DX2.0, as Castel manual says), it play sound with all 3 lights flashing and fan spinning, but after a few seconds it stop and no give any sign of life...
The steering work fine. I try to set arming time to 2,3,4 and 5 seconds but it still not work.
I try with all possible configuration of DX2.0 throttle (from 100% to 125%) in normal and reverse mode but with any solution.
I buy the external capacitor from Spektrum (SPM 1600 voltage protector) and I'm waiting it arrive to make another test.

Anyone have a solution for this problem?

I'm italian and I'm sorry for my very poor english...

Thanks a lot,

Lorenzo

Does the tx/rx bind? Can you move your servos? I don't think this issue has been seen so i would re-check your wiring.

The steering servo is ok and it work immeditly as soon as I start the Mamba.
In the afternoon I'll try to alimentate the SR3000 with an external battery pack, disconnecting the red wire in the plug from Mamba Monster.

I'll post an update when it done.

Thanks a lot,

Lorenzo

Try setting the throttle end points to 100 and also the brake sub trim needs to be maxed out or the MMM wont see it as full brake/reverse.

Look over all the throttle trim and end point settings and you will get it.

The spektrum defaults to 50% on the brake, must turn it to 100% to get calibration to work.

I tried to alimentate the receiver with an external battery (unwiring the red from mamba monster plug). I tried to set brake amount from 50 to 100% and setting trim from 100 to 125% but it doesn't work anymore.
I think that is not a problem of brake, because the Monster doesn't recognise full throttle (that is the first step of programming) = the red led never lighted :-(

What can I do now?

I'd try calling the CC help line im sure they will be happy to help you out, it a lot easier to figure the problem out when you are speaking live to someone.

Sorry I missed that above. I had a little bit of trouble programming mine too, I have a Spektrum DX3.0, remember that when you turn it on it first goes thru all the beeps for your batteries.

First thing to check is that the throttle is NOT set to "REV" on your DX2, mine was and that messed it all up after that I basically held the throttle trigger in and then turned on the MMM then I let it go thru its warm up beeps, til I saw the proper lighting sequence for WOT, then quickly go to full brake, dont stop at neutral, wait for the lights, then neutral and wait then you are done. Hope that helps.

another thing is that you said that you held the throttle forward you are supposed to pull throttle backwards.

I called Castle with a problem with calibrating my Spektrum 2.0 also and they told me to set my throttle endpoints to 125 and the A switch by the throttle trigger to 125 and my Monster Mamba Max calibrated no problem.I spoke with Thomas from the Tech department

I do the same setting, but doesn't work... :-(
I try even with a Futaba 3GR-2.4G (new) and it doesn't work anymore.

Mike, can the Mamba Monster be broken?

No at the moment. But since 2 weeks ago, I use the DX2.0 with a Mamba Max without a problem. I will try to setup the Monster with another battery (like my brother's 2x2600mAh LiPo 3S). I'll post results this evening.

Thanks a lot,

Lorenzo

Set the arming time higher in the castle link software. I think the Spektrum radios take longer to bind than normal and the ESC has armed before it receives the throttle input telling it to go into setup mode.
