Questions about My Nue and 4 celled Lipo racing in MT - 10.21.2008, 02:06 AM

Ok, I want to race in RC Pro next year. I want a good reliable setup, but won't have much money to invest. My current setup is a G2R revo, Neu 1515/2.5d/f, quark 125 w/no mods on a RC-Monster esc plate, The current gearing is 20/51 on a strobed Emaxx tranny w/half tranny conversion and 1/8 buggy diffs. The Limit for RC pro is 4S lipo in MT. I have run my setup on 4s and 5s, 4s on BrianG's calc gets me 28MPH drag adjusted, the total ratio currently is 14.52628 : 1 with a circumfrence on tires at 18.22 inches (462.82 mm) (40 series crimefighters). I plan to run Losi wheel/tire setup for racing.

On 5s the speed with all above info is 35 MPH drag adjusted, Thats my target speed, feels right to me.

My question is, Can the 1515/2.5d/f pull a 25 tooth pinion on 4s? I can run it all day in 5s with 20/51 and it not even get warm (love that neu and quark). Most of the races should be under 30 minutes, qualifiers are around 5 to 7 minutes. Has anyone tryed to run a Neu 1515/2.5d to its limit on 4s? I know its not the right motor for the Job, but thinking it might be good enough to pull it right. BTW the ratio with the 25 pinion will be 11.62103 : 1

Sorry for the long post and bad typing, I couldn't copy the chart to post here. How do you post the charts BTW?

People here hate Nitro, I love it. I start it, run it about 50 ft from me and it dies, I go after it. Perfect exercise

IMO the 2.5d is a bit slow on 4s, and if you are limited to 4s a 1y or 2d would be a better setup...if cash is a problem maybe a Medusa in the 2000kv would be good

I raced the 2.5d w/ 4s in my erevo for the last race of the year and took third place with the truggies and the two who beat me were: 1) the winner of the pro series truggie class who is officially a 'pro' now, and the other was a kid who won 1 pro-series truggie event and took some other high place finishes. It just happens our track in Utica has a LOT of the top guys in the series.

With that said I'd bet money the 2.5d could smack you around azjc :P Sometimes slower is faster when racing.. Allows you to have more precision on the track! PS check out the proseries web site or my youtube to see the track in Utica.

With that said the 2.5 is a dog doing speed passes on 4s lipo, that or would be harder to run at one of those huge race tracks that have straights 500+ yards long :P I had no idea about the 4s lipo limit though.. I only run 4s lipo in my e-revo, but I neve heard anyone quote that and I never looked it up.

PS 24,25t should be fine crazyjr

I think you are thinking a 1515 whereas he's using a 1512... This is a touch light for a revo but should be able to take it - just watch the temps

I did read that wrong.. I run the 1515 2.5d, ya I'm not sure the 1512 will hold up to that tall gearing over a 30min main... Medusa is about to drop 70 and 80mm motors.. those are awesome for 120 and 145 you can't go wrong.

Anyone know if you run w/ the arena trucks in the proseries you can get away with a 5s lipo config or do they limit that to 4s as well? There is nothing in the listed rules for an e-truggy.

Thanks Stum, I figured it'd be ok. On 5s, the power is almost too much, I figured if it could pull the 25 pinion, it'd tame it a bit. For the batteries, I plan to use my polyquest and flightpower 3700's for the qualifiers (about 5 minutes) and use 8000mah batteries (not sure if maxamps or truerc will get the nod) for the main. I do not plan for a battery change, I will pit every 5 minutes for three sec's or what they want me to do
