NeuEnergy Lipo Sizing Incorrect? - 11.05.2008, 02:02 PM

Have any of you guys had problems with the Neu batteries not matching the size stated on their website? I just ordered a 6s 4300 from them and the website stated it was 158mm long. So I contacted Mike about making a custom battery tray. Well, he did a great job as usual, except when I got my battery it was actualy 165mm!

Needless to say I'm a little bent that I spent over $50 on a battery tray that I can't use now. I've emailed Neu about the issue but haven't heard back from them yet.

The 4300's I have (both 4s and 6s) fit perfect in my 160mm long battery trays. Perhaps they changed the construction or cells and have not updated dimensions IDK?

You could probably use them on another project. And if the tray is too long, you can put a piece of foam on either end to take up the slack, and would also provide a little extra cushion.

I suppose I could do that - however it still costs me another $50 to have a new one made since this one is too short for the battery. I would love to use this tray for another project but I can't afford that right now either

What you could do is cut your short tray in half and attach it to the chassis so there is a gap in the middle. That would give you the length you need and not cost you any more.

Actually that's exactly what I had planned! That's pretty funny.

Yeah, I've noticed the same thing with my Neu lipos as well. I have two 3s 3900 packs and a lot of hard case lipos. The hard case lipos are as specified, but the 3900's were advertised at 135mm L, and are actually 145mm long. I was hoping to use these in a standard 6-cell battery tray, but no dice.

There's two sides to every schwartz, he got the up side and I got the down side.
