SC8 Conversion Thread - 11.06.2008, 08:56 PM

Well I thought I'd start a thread for SC8 conversions.

Mine is underway and should be completed in a week.

Take a look at the pictures and you can see all I have done is remove the engine and electronics.

Also if you look at the last picture, you can see that I installed window screen with a hot glue gun from the inside of the body to give a more scale appearance.

Wow, these are getting to be popular conversions this week. This is the third one I've seen that's being converted...aside from the POS conversion SC8 on eBay.

Thanks.

I've been doing it to my Losi 8B/T bodies for about a year now with great results. Just cut out the screen about 1/2" over the actual window size. Position the screen inside the body, and start applying the glue to the top of the window, let it dry a bit. And holding the screen tightly from the bottom, apply glue there to make sure your screen doesn't come out saggy. After which, you can finish applying glue to the rest of the windows perimeter.

Good luck!

They only come as a RTR and most sites have them at about $650 right now.

Heres an update.

The pictures are below for your drooling pleasure!!

It is a prototype in testing. Chassis is new, along with other standard Tekno parts, including the clutch, make this conversion super scale. I can creep around on the ground with a small blip of the throttle at 1 mph if I want. Rolling around on and off throttle on pavement or blacktop produces the most amazing tire squelching. The sounds are soooo realistic and cool!! And just seeing one of these bad boys coming to a screeching/screaming stop at full brakes (mechanical), will make just about anybody want one.

Let me know what you think or if you have any questions.

Is it a noticeable difference in run time when you use mechanical brakes?

Yaa. It is the 3D - 1360kv. Gives the cleanest install and lowest CG by a small amount.

Not really. Most of the real benefits are noticed right away and mostly they are performance related. Ability to coast through the air off jumps with ease. Slow rolling corners with confidence in the consistency of the "roll". And also the ability to adjust brake bias. The ability to have the rear end of the car brake before the front makes for consistent handling through corners and tighter turns.

I think the temps are noticeably lower though... so extra run time might also be noticed, though I haven't tested for it.

Thanks for the comments.
