Can this be fixed or am i buying a new motor? - 12.04.2005, 06:46 PM

I was out bashing around today where the complex just put in a new driveway and there's still some loose dirt and rocks. Went off the edge and down right into a rock and the tropped stopped, I tried to back up figuring it high center another rock or something. When I picked up the Pede, I saw the motor was loose, figured it had sheared a screwed. Looking closer I saw the end plate firmly in place. The hit broke the glue bond between the motor can and the end plate.

This pic shows the end plate right where it's supposed to be, hard to tell from this angle but you can see the pinion isn't lined up with the spur gear.

Here's the 2 pieces, no other damage to the truck.

Only way to fix it that I can think of is to drill and tap 3 or 4 holes and use set screws to hold it in. Only thing is, how you be sure no metal shavings are left in the motor and I don't have anything small enough to do it.

pop it back on and get a heatsink/clamp from mike. thats what they were disigned to prevent. if no damage was done it should be fine. just be sure to blow it out really good.

I agree with squee on this one. I has happend to me before. I had a brand new 7xl hadn't even been run yet. I dropped the motor and knocked the end right off it. I had a heatsink clamp for it though. I was seeing if I could get it on a stampede at the time. :D

Peace!
