My Review of Rc-M RC8Te prototype..... - 12.09.2008, 10:49 PM

Well mike gave me the ok to post some pics and tease you guys a little more who are waiting on these and make all you others want one!

The kit comes with the chassis, mud guards, servo tray, center chassis brace plate, truggy specific motor mount, one rc-m pinion, and a rc-m battery tray. all for $130 that a HELL of a deal.

The assembly was a breeze, everythign fits together good i would suggest using a little locite on the mud guards or using some coarse thread screws, because i lost 2 of my 6 during the main..... other than that its excellent, keep in mind this is the prototype so i had to dremel some on the radio tray, and the mount pictured is a buggy mount, not a truggy mount the truggy mount will move the motor down right on the chassis and have more adjustment as the biggest pinion i can use is a 16tooth with the stock spur gear. I think the productin chassis comes with 4 countersunk m4 holes to mount the included tray where you want, very securely. (my truck with the electronics mounted has a 55/45 balance in favor of the front) which handles excellently.you just have to transfer the holes to the tray after you have it where you want it and drill them with a 1/8th drill bit, then thread the m4 screws into the tray and its solid. For the radio tray i used one thick and one thin spacer underneath and one thin spacer ontop.

i made the MMM mount thats behind the battery tray, its .080 6061 t4 alumnium with a rasied center to keep the MMM clamped and inplace on my velcro, it has a 1.125 inch hole in it for the fan and i sanded it and then colored it with a black sharpie a few times to get the anodized look lol

my setup:
-1515 2.5d /f neu with both mike covers
-MMM v3
-mike's new 5s2p 5000 lipos
-DS1313 steering servo
-specktrum 3.0 radio and rx
-crimefighters all around is what i ran over the weekend

Drive report:
drove it twice that morning playing with the punch control, and the brake and throttle curves to dial it in as close as possible to my xray that im used to. i practiced a couple sections and turns and was really impressed with how easy it was to drive and corner, it jumped excellent and just floated over the track. 1st qualifier came around i ran a couple slow laps to feel how it transfered from corner to corner over a whole lap, when the heat started i was was 3rd on the grid, in the second corner i passed for 1st and checked out, i lapped almost half the field in the 5 mintues and i was a half a lap ahead of second place at the finish im just in awe i ran my personal fastest time during that qualifer beating my previous best with my xray by 2.5 seconds a lap..... during the next two qaulifiers i proved it wasnt a fluke and ran a solid third place (after coming from dead last out of a 1st turn pile up) and a second place in the last qualifer (also after being not so kindly bumped off the track in the second corner). qualified 5th for the Amain by time(which i never even make at these bigger races) so i was very happy, i went striaght to 3rd right off the bat and hung in 3rd for the first 5-6 mintues within 5 seconds of the leader and second as i was going over our back section i lost signal from my radio and all went to neutral and i went over the back of the big sweeper, (its all night and the trun marshall wasnt watching), so after screaming and hollering for 15-20 seconds the marshall finally grabs my car and brings it back, i get back on the track in 7th and worked back up to 5th over a couple laps when they incorrectly called half way at 8 mins (it was a 25 mintue main)so i pull in for my battery swap and of course my pitguy isnt ready to get me so i have to get his attention and he pulls the body and toss me the car to me on the stand for me to swap my own battery (its better for me) but its in the 30s and i didnt know untill then that i couldnt feel my figners so after fumbling with it forever it seemed my normal 20second battery swap took over 50, which put me almost a lap and a half down from where i was..... and also later in the race my reciver bugged out agian and cost me another 20 seconds.... but i finished out the race by getting back to 6th place i still good for me. but i think i could have stayed top 3 had i had a little better luck. ALOT can happen in the long Amains.

all in all, i LOVE this truck everything works flawlessly and i cant wait to get the suspenion dialed in even better, the truck corners better than anyhting ive ever driven, it will literally pivot on the front wheel into the sharpest corner and launch out of it effortlessly everytime. This truck is just incredible, and sooo easy to drive, the faster you drive the better it works.

wait till you guys get your hands on these yall will completely understand

sorry for the long read, but it deserves it.
