MMM warranty question - 12.20.2008, 10:34 AM

Does removing the switch void the MMM warranty?

As long as you are just cutting it off and not touching a soldering iron to the board its fine.

Whats the negative to removing the switch. The reason I ask is one stock slide switch got sand in it and was intermittent. So I picked up a pretty nice toggle switch from Radio Shack. Well today it was intermittent, must have gotten sand or dirt in it.

First time the stock switch went south it cost me a suspension arm and a hinge pin. At our track at the end of the stright is high banked left turn (bowl), on the other side is the rock crawling course. As you can guess the switch cut out after coming down the straight full speed, wasn't able to make the turn. I don't drive on sand like beach sand, the track is more loamy with fine sand (dust).

So what would be the negative to just clipping the switch and soldering the two wires together. As long as my radio is on when I plug the battery in I should be ok. I always unplug the battery as soon as I pull it off the track anyway.

There is no negative I know of. I took the switch of one of my brushed escs because it broke like yours. I like having no switch. I say you just solder the wires together.

Nice to see ya here Kaz! Seems like a lot of the LST forums people who are into brushless are here. I just got activated so im loving this forum so far, TONS of information on here!

To keep things on track, the Hydra doesent even have a switch, so it cant hurt not having one. You are just manually making the current connect, vs letting the switch do it. You just dont see the spark with a switch

If it aint broke, break it, then fix it.

Yeah, I've been here for a while.

I know the switch isn't necessary but I just wanted to ask so I wouldn't void the warranty.

Sorry to hear about the hydro. The one in my old lst2 is still kicking. The guy who has it now runs it on 4s and with the xlt4. He is alot easier on it than I was. I didnt use the hydro long(only after I sunk the mgm esc in the sound) So I had no other choice.
