Looking for an electric buggy - 01.09.2009, 06:01 PM

I am looking for a descent electric buggy, i have looked at the traxxas rustler but to be honest dont like the look of it or the way it handles. i was after a buggy around the 1/10th scale. i really like the look of the Hyper ST but i wish they did an electric version, can someone recommend one please as i am not familiar with any other brands other than traxxas. Even a roller would be good if not better as i already have a Mamba Max ESC with a Traxxas Velineon Motor.

Thanks

Tim

Hyper ST is 1/8th scale and a truggy...

Crt.5 is 1/12 scale and would work for your electrics - they can be found used converted for about $200.

I saw a new one unconverted for $175...

Ah my bad. i liked the style of the ST. the Crt looks quite good too. i have seen the e-firestorm too, i know its a stadium truck. I have a E-revo with a MMM Combo in it and to be honest just looking for something a little smaller as a backup car for when my revo is down and also to use the spare brusless system i have as it seems a waste to just have it sitting there

I have 2 crt.5, one is my daughter's and mine is being redone as we speak. A great truck, especially one w/the RCM extended chassis kit. Very durable as well.

Look up crt.5 in the search engine and you will see that many of us have/had one and like them. Good luck w/your decision!

Welcome to the forums...Tim!

If you want a good 10th scale electric buggy the losi xx-cr kit is very nice. It is very lightweight and would be perfect platform for your MM and traxxas motor.

Tim, I have an e-revo as well.

I have the CRT.5 and like it alot.

Also have a Losi 8ight that runs great on a track.

I love all three for different uses tho.....where will you be running?
track? street? construction site?

@ Magman, thanks for the welcome, i have been a veiwer and avid reader for a while :)

Hey thanks for your advice everyone, well to be honest i will do mostly road with it, but maybe a little offroad. i have my revo for mainly offroad and a little on road.

What is required for a conversion on a CRT.5? i havent found any on ebay UK so will have to buy a new one if i were to get one.

not much really.

Your best bet is to get RCM-mikes kit.

For electronics, you can go cheap with a MM and a 9L, or you can go all out with the MMM and a Neu 1509.
Some ppl are even using vxl systems.
I have a MM with a medusa running on 4s.
