Savage XL conversion questions - 02.19.2009, 07:24 PM

Hi all,

With the recent release of the Flux's and the fact that AMAZINGLY they are now available in Australia, without the normal 6-12 month wait, was just hoping someone could answer a few questions.

I already have a Castle MMM/Castle Neu combo, which I purchased as a backup for my existing V1 MMM and Medusa 80mm 1600kv, but that's going strong and my combo is just sitting there doing nothing.

I've been wanting to convert an XL for quite awhile now, but with terrible Aussie dollar and the fact that I'd have to do at least some fabrication work has put me off, as I don't have the required tools.

I was wondering, does anyone happen to know if the Flux stuff, mainly motor mount, center diff, shocks and ESC mount would be a direct fit on the XL?

I could just buy a Flux, but having run 6S with far shorter gearing that what they provide in the Flux, on my Truggy, I'm a bit hesitant. I don't want a MT that just flips on its lid when you give it throttle.

I was thinking that the XL being larger wheelbase and a bit heavier and longer would handle the 6S power better.

I've seen a few guys in here convert their XLs by making their own stuff or using that Kershaw designs stuff, but I would imagine that it would be simpler to just take the HPI stuff off the Flux, as it appears to be holding up just fine, especially the center diff.

Oh also, with the Flux gearing, is it Mod1?

thanks guys
