Question on what to build to beat the shizz out Slayer, Revos, and slashes!! - RC-Monster Forums

Okay I go crawling with a bunch of guys almost every weekend. Now I sold most of my go-fast stuff to get into crawling. But now I want to build something to compete and run when they all bash there revos, slashes, and slayer.

Most of the time they run on dirt roads, rough un-cut natural terrain and so on. No tracks here. So I am figuring that I am def going to need

1. something durable durable durable
2. something that has some clearance
3. can find parts cheap on ebay (im a bay whore for sure)
4. something I can make blistering fast and torque crazy (45 MPH at least would be fun)

Now what I have
I have a unfinished losi pro 8ight I was thinking of throwing (dont have yet )a MMM combo in with like 5s-6s lipo and putting a corr body on like I have seen on this site. But I kinda worry about clearance.

I just want to shoot the shit with you guys and see what you kinda suggest for tearing some stuff up with the other guys...hoping to really show them up at the same time with some crazy torque 4wd power.

Most everyone has slayers (like 6 of them) and now two members just got new revo 3.3s...I hate nitro...would really like to prove Brushless power to these two.lol.

Anyway I know you guys have way more knowledge then I do and I have no problem switching platforms or even just getting a 8ight T so it can handle more terrain. I dunno you tell me what you think.

BTW I think I FINALLY found a job in Vegas. So I May be able to start to live again like normal. Yea!!!!! Ive been outta work for like 5 months..ouch.

I am a little confused on the revos..the 3.3 is an 1/8 scale or an extended 1/10 scale. Do you think that the revo is more durable then the losi 8ight I have??

If you already have the 8ight then i would say to just build that, It should handle better that the slayers and with a MMM combo on 5 or 6s it will be very fast. I would also say that it would be more durable than the e-revo, especially the drivetrain.

IMO sounds like you are looking for a truggy for a cross between the ultimate durability of the 1/8 buggy and ground clearance of a MT.

But if you have the 8 already, I think you might be surprised at how well a buggy can do as an all purpose basher. Just dont try and take it on the rocks.

I'd recommend building the 8ight. If not that, then I highly suggest the Savage Flux as an awesome basher with serious speed potential.

I agree that the 8 buggy will be a good setup for dirt roads and the like, and be quite cool looking with a corr body. If you need clearance stepping up to a monster truck will be the best bet as they have the most clearance... I generally prefer MT to a truggy, but that is just me. A truggy will most likely be the best bet if you want more clearance than a buggy but still want it to handle well at the speeds you indicate. A revo (any type) will not be strong enough... Go with a top name truggy, and you will easily find parts on the bay (you are a whore!).

Ty guys for the feedback. I did some reading last night and am not to keen on the 1/10 e-revo. I dont think it suits my needs. I am going to start hunting for parts for the 8ight I think. I hear they are pretty durable.

Can I put 8ight truck tires on the 8ight just for a bit more clearance or will that not work due to stability reasons or other stuff. Sorry if this is a stupid question.

The biggest concern on putting on the larger tires is clearance, especially with the steering. You'll also want to regear to accomodate the larger diameter tires.

FWIW though, buggy badlands are pretty badass for bashing with.

Since you already have the 8, I'd use that as the basis. 8th scale diffs and drivetrain will be durable, and the low CG of a buggy will definitely help handling.

If you want more clearance than larger tires and/or simply raising the chassis (via increasing arm/shock travel) will allow, how about using 8T arms and shocks? Don't know if they are interchangeable with the regular 8 stuff (at the bulks and knuckles), but something to look into.

Like skellyo said, gearing will have to be adjusted for larger tires...

Well it looks like the slash body fits well from what Ive been reading on the Losi 8ight and the SC8 bumpers bolt up with some simple mods and they look sick IMO with the mudflaps...now all I need are some decent wheels and tires...any suggestions with a 17mm hex that wont break the bank?? I am heading on the track of a slash look-a-like killa!!

Thanks those were exactly the ones I wanted and def the best price anywhere. Good stuff thanks. This is going to be sweet. Now I am excited.

I was looking at the new SC8E comming out in april I wionder how much it will be. I just cant justify going with it over the part availabilty on ebay for the losi 8ight. Plus I would rather build one b/c they will probably skimp on parts to save money and make the kit as cheap as possible.

Man that is about what I was thinking it would run. You were much better then I was at finding the price. Man I want the 8ight CORR for the cheap parts but buying all the needed parts for the 8ight conversion would be quite comprable to to the price of the SC8E after I have to buy a conversion for the 8ight still, bumpers, mounts, flaps, ect ect.

Wow this is a tough decision. I just put my CRT .5 up for sale to help fund the project. It is converted and un-ran so it should fetch some cahsolla.
