Would you or wouldnt you? - 03.11.2009, 09:24 PM

Run a Slash with a Medusa 36-50-3300 without end covers on it? I contacted Mike a couple days ago via email asking when the covers will be available but no answer. All I would be doing is running it on road on a black top parking lot. I would rather not get it all sticky taping it up. Comments?

just use the plastic electrical tape. It peals off and doesnt leave a residue.

I can't decide if its more fun
to make it...
or break it...

You mean the regular black stuff? I guess I am just wondering how critical and fussy they are if anything would get into it???? Like one piece of dirt and it will lunch your motor??? What if one in a plane sucks in a bumble bee??? LOL

I havent ever bothered covering my Neus and havent had any issues. Im sure it wouldd be just fine without a cover.

The aluminum tape that I use is very easy to trim after you put it on so it looks very tidy. It doesn't come off easy though. Why are you so against using tape?

No it def doesn't, at least not if you trim it. Barely noticeable.

Yes. I guess some protection is good. The thing is we are getting over Wisconsin winter and there is still salt and grit in the parking lot. Not a lot but some. I will tape it up for the time being. I hope Mike gets back to me on the covers....

If you use tape (and I would use something), just keep it on when the heatsink comes in. It's not like it will hurt anything to keep the tape on there...

Now what exactly is Mike having made? Heatsinks? End covers? I would not think a heat sink would fit on the motor in a Slash..

It might fit depending on how it lines up. There is some room there, but not a lot obviously. When you said "cover" I assumed you meant the new heatsink/clamp units he is having redone.

Whatever he is having made for the Medusa motors. Now I wonder if it will work with the Slash if it is a heat sink.
